Little background info might be in order I guess.

I'm 26 and married, I smoked cannabis from age 17 to 24. I have a lung disease called sarcoidosis, so now smoking is completely out of the question since I have only one fairly decent lung. The transplant specialist in St. Louis told me they think I'll need a double lung transplant in 2 or 3 years. So smoking is definitely out of the question.

BUT, it's still edible ;) I make firecrackers when I want some, but I want to start making THC pills. There are reasons for why I want to grow my own and make the pills.

1. Due to the prednisone that I've had to take over the years it has worn down on my bones, my bone density test that came back showed that I've lost a good bit. And because of that my body just aches constantly, I take about 1600mg of Ibuprofen a day for that (Morning and night).

2. The medication I'm taking, Cellcept and Paxil, the paxil is because I've been having major depressive episodes because of my disease. It sucks being 26 and not being able to take a shower without gasping for breath. And I think the combination of both of them has severely decreased my appetite, in the past 2 months or so I've lost weight I didn't need to lose. I think I'm down to 115lbs, I just can't finish a meal no matter how hard I try to stuff it down and I don't eat enough.

So those are my only two problems really, everything else that comes with the disease package can be dealt with.

Now here's the MAJOR problem.

My wife has never tried marijuana, she's been curious and almost took a hit from her uncles joint while we were at their house. She's talked about how she would be interested in trying it but she would be too afraid of a random drug test.

The main reason she does not like the idea of marijuana is because it's illegal. Which is understandable, and I don't want to go out and buy it from some stranger and I don't want to sell it. I want to grow a couple plants and make the THC pills. That's it.

But I don't know how to run this by her, I don't know if she would be ok with it or not. And I want to use marijuana to take myself off Ibuprofen and I don't want to take any type of codeine (I end up take them all too fast, I have a problem with those). Marijuana also makes me eat like a mad man, I stuff everything in site into my belly. Overall I'm pretty sure I'd be a healthier person if I made the THC pills, or just made the firecrackers. I could put the weight back on and I wouldn't be destroying my body with chemicals.

So does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to talk to her about this? Has anyone else had to go through something like this?

I would hate it if this turned out to be something that she would leave me for.

You've got to communicate with her. Ask her how she feels. If you explain that there's little risk to either of you, and if anything happens you'll take full responsibility, she'll probably understand. Tell her that nobody will know, there won't be any dealers needed because you'll grow it yourself, and it would be highly unlikely that law enforcement would ever be involved, considering the circumstances you've described. You also must explain that to be strong and healthy for the eventual surgery, this is definitely a method worth trying.

I hope that she can see your point of view. I think she will.

Check on "Osteoporosis" (yes, cannabis helps! ), "Appetite Stimulant", "Depression", and anything else that "looks good"! You'll have quite a list to choose from, I guarantee! Print up whatever you need and show the wife! Nothing like having a dozen or so scientific studies to back you up! :D

Ask the wife "When was the last time anyone, besides us, looked in the back closet?- That is how safe it is!" A few CFLs, a dark shower curtain to block light around the door, potting soil and some tubs from Walmart - add a spare closet and you've got all you need!

Or with a bit of "gutting", an old junk freezer can be converted to a grow cabinet- and some of them can even be locked! Wife might like that! (The poster just told the frige repair man he needed it for storing food in his cabin- mice! Got it free!) Lots of "how to grow stuff" can be found here.

There are a lot of interesting recipes to be found here-
International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums - Cannabis Recipes (http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=7602&highlight=elixer) Also run searches on "Green Dragon".

My hubby has pain issues and gets MUCH better results from edibles. What takes care of his pain, just gives me a mild buzz! Cannabis also cuts the need for opiate and NSAID pain killers. (I believe the studies for that are in the "Pain" section in the link below)

hey tourist. just explain to her in a logical well thought out manner exaclty what your intentions are. you obviously have medical needs, and she would like to try it. explain to her that you'd only have a couple of plants, that neither of you will ever tell anyone, what the initial investment would be, how people get caught and what you are gonna do not to (not that this is a concern, but i think it would help alleviate some of her concerns), and if she doesn't want to or is hesitant then ask her to let you just start a couple of plants out and get things going so she can see how it works and what's going on and understand it. let her know that if she feels uncomfortable with it at any time you will abort it all together. more than likely if you are reasonable with her she will be with you (hopefully). everyone wins. now blaze that sh*t!

I know for a fact cannabis helps my problems. And I feel guilty for this because I've been making edibles behind her back :( And thats wrong, and I know she'll be pissed about that part of it.

I just hate having to go to someone and buy and then drive all the way back home with marijuana in my car with me. Only reason I do it right now is because the guy I get it from is a good friend of mine. But still I just don't like it.

I especially don't like having to pay for something I can grow myself.

I need to get off the pain meds, I think that will kill me faster than anything.

She's also stated herself that she understands there are medical benefits from using MJ and that she's not against it for medical use at all. It's just the legal part of it.

She knows the dangers of the meds I take that are prescribed to me since she works in a pharamcy, so hopefully she'll let me go through with this.

Have you been tested for Celiac Disease? There is a connection to Sarcoidosis in some people. Here's more details:

I've been tested for so many things I don't even remember them. I could have been but I'm not 100% sure if I have or not.

Here's a recent x-ray of my lungs if anyone is curious.. notice how the left is smaller that the right. (Your right, my left :) Anyway..)

I would urge you to check your records, or ask your doctor, and if you haven't been tested (for Celiac), it's very important to do so. It's an autoimmune disease, and apparently people with your condition have a greater chance of having it than the general population. Since I was diagnosed with it (Celiac), and I adjusted my lifestyle, my health has improved dramatically.
