Can I top?

I have 3 females about 10-12 inches and have been flowering for 4 days.

Question: Can I top these still?

Question: Will I gain 2 main colas if I do this?

Question: Can the tops go into rockwool->hydopebbles->bubbler system in a single step? After using rooting agent of course.


LST is not an option at this point. Also, since this is my first grow, I do not want to deal with that yet.



I also have HighGradeSeeds MIX package of 5 that I am currently germinating to put into bubbler/aeroponic systen. I will keep you posted on that. Maybe some pics at some point.

i started some form of LST after i started flowering just to give the inside part of the plant some light. it is working well. but yes you can top it and root it, it may take a white to reveg it self

Can I continue to flower immediately after topping? Or do I need to Re-Veg it.

Just top it and keep on flowering. When you cut the top off, the two bud sites below the cut become the new tops. I personally top my plants in the last week of veg, about 5 days before I flower, this gives them enough time to recover (although the need for recovery is minimal), but not enough time to grow too big before flowering. This also keeps their growth more even (the tops).

ideally you do not want top a plan once you have begun to flower.. but if it is neccesicity to get clones.. the do what ya gotta do. : )

Hey guys/gals, Thanks for the responses.

Do you think the size of the plants will be an issue? They are 3 10-12 in before I flowered. I vegged for 6 weeks in soil but started in "noobish" conditions (incandesecent lighting ;) )

But yes, I wouldnt mind a few clones ^_^.
I just don't want to have a major "growth" setback because of the small statue at flower.


Specs: Custom soil mix
Lighting: 2(150) hps and 3(40) flour.
Water & Feed: Currently water other day + Foilair feed daily. Shultz 20-20-20 bone meal, blood meal.

Look,, the veg phase of growth is when you top and train, and pinch all the sites to double them.You top as soon as you have2-3 nodes.I pinch the tops out before I put them in their first real pot.All this plant manipulation needs to be done as soon as possible.Pinching sites etc.,slows the growth down because you have just redirected the plants growth .Very quickly the plant will produce more usefull growth.More bud sites, less useless height and denser wider plants. To top at 12/12 is a waste.Plants dont have the time needed to establish its self before switching to flowering.-usdi Agaluga
