Greetings
My name is hector and I am new to medical cannabis, so pleasae forgive me for asking obvious questions.
Recently, My doctor recommended me to use MC as an alternitive to imitrex (migraine med), and this is the 3rd time i have done it (in a week). The problem is that so far, MC doesn't seem to offer any of the pain relief i wanted, in fact, i think i might be more sensitive to pain when i am "high". And also i felt extremely light-headed, and found it difficult to stand stright for even a short amount of time(1-2 mins). The strains i got were all high grade sativa, all of which were purchased at a reputable cannibis club, so i don't think there is anything wrong with the medicine.
What did i do wrong?
Is the effect/ or the lack of effects normal for new patients?
As a new patient, how much cannibis should i use each time?
P.S, I am 6.2 and 180 pounds, i smoked on average 3 small buds each time, (maybe around .3-0.4 grams)
Thank you for your time

I am no doctor and don't pretend to be. What you describe is just as it is for most everyone using chronic sativa. It's the nature of sativa to be light energedic, and light headed is part of it. I don't find much pain releaf with sativa's. Because you are new you must find the right dose yourself. Maybe more maybe less. You might want to try an indica. A heavy effect with maybe more pain releaf. Too much and it will put you on the couch for awhile. Be carefull everyone is different and this med may not be for you. I can not take any thing with codiene. Makes me sick.

If you explain your situation/symptoms to the Cannabis Club, they will no doubt be able to offer you a better strain more suited to your unique condition. Don't be afraid to discuss this with them! The people know what they're talking about.
Otherwise I'd say the best thing you can do is cut down, because it sounds like you're smoking too much in a single session. Just take one hoot, wait a couple minutes, see how you feel after that and repeat as necessary. Getting too high isn't very fun; personally, I find the light buzz effect much more enjoyable.

I agree, possibly speak to them about getting an indica strain.
My advice is, if you are completely new to marijuana, just try to make your surroundings, mood, etc...very relaxed and calm. comfortable.
do something you like, read, watch/listen to something, anything you want that is calm..and then smoke.
Start by being comfortable in your normal state, then smoking. make sure you have eaten, had something to drink, etc. as well. Keep a drink with you if it helps. When you smoke you may find your mouth becomes dry.
Not eating and drinking will make you lightheaded after a certain period, and I would argue that getting very high with that pre-condition may cause it to worsen.
Wish you the best:thumbsup:

As a long time migraine sufferer, I would strongly suggest a couch-lock indica! Sativas just don't cut it when it comes to my migraines! Mine are due to a traumatic head injury as a child (another kid tried to murder me with a hammer!), so my results may not be typical. But since you are getting no relief from a sativa, I'd say try a "heavy" indica, and try different strains- even among indica dominant plants, the amount of relief varies for me!

I sincerely appreciate all your help; I will try indica next time.
Any recommendations? Especially from fellow migraine sufferers.

Yes sativa will do that to you! Do not smoke any more high grade sativa untill you are more experienced. also because of the nature of your usage/medical problem i would agree with the others in you definitely need a good indica. just be careful! if you smoke to much it can have you on your ass and really hungry and sleepy, dosage is very important when your tolerance is low, take a hit and wait 10 min then repeat if necessary :rastasmoke: keep tokin on some indica and see if your problem doesn't go away. i guarantee if you get the right strain you will see improvement to your headaches. im not an expert on medical strains so ill let some of the others like stinky make their recommendations as to which ones you'll want to request at your club. Best of luck

Yes Indicas are better suited for pain. I get kinedy stones and everyone has heard of the pain of kidney stones. I find a strong indica hash is the best way to go. if not available then a strong indica, even a hybread with heavy indica is better I find, such as Bubblegum or bluberry or even northern lights. An they can put you to sleep, which in the night time is something wanted, infact I have had episodes whereI smoke sleep then wake up about 3-4 hours later in pain and smoke again and I go back to sleep. Indicas help me in pain relife and insomnia from pain.
A over the counter Ibeprofan a herb brownie and lots of water then a phat bowl of bubblegum and I am set for a full night of sleep and I wake not in pain but in a happy numb state. I only do this when I have pain other wise the day is spent in stonner bliss, I cant do that all the time, im not rich so I so have to work, and do other things. but it beats being in pain on those days when you wana go to the hospital for some morphine drip, which most of the time doesnt work any way! I hate when they tell you we have to wait to give you more, thats bullshit!!
