I read that marijuana specifically the psychoactive THC, puts your brain into an alpha-wave state. This state is supposed help you retain information and give you access to the "coding" in your brain so you can retrain yourself more easily.

Anyway, has anyone tried learning new things or using marijuana to help them out in real life after they were high? (i'm specifically talking about the psychedelic properties of the chemical)

just wondering

Yes... well I think so.

It helped me to find what I truely believe, which is why I'm now an Atheist. And I finally got a decent grasp on politics and found out where I stand politically.

I was never interested in studying the history of religion and learning some about politics till the THC hit my body. So I'm thinking it could have been the weed.

Well... the greatest accomplishment i got after smoking weed was the ability to empty my mind at will (well... most times... not always), a thing i never was able to do before smoking.
Besides this, i learned how to concentrate my attention in the outside sounds and stopping the internal dialogues inside my mind. I learned how to keep detached, impassible, zen-like while facing most situations. I learned how to control my behavior (the Art of Stalking) and how to deal with people. I learned how to percieve their real intentions, almost like if i were able to read their thoughts. And i learned how to influence them somehow (but its FAR easier and more effective when im stoned). I learned how to percieve the world in diferent ways, how is to be in an alterated state of consciousness, and so i realized how our "normal" way of perception is somehow arbitrary, and not the "real", "right" one. And the list goes on... but right now im way too lazy to keep thinking about it... anyway, smoking weed was the most useful thing that happened in my life.

You just took the words right out of my mind. For a while there I thought I was just crazy.

Another good way to "personally expand yourself" is with high-pressure helium.

Learning when I'm high is very 50-50. I'm always thinking of something that is very important to me at the time. It takes up all my thought and I'll even have conversations with people that I don't really notice having because I'm so concentrated on the problem or whatever it is im worried about inside my head. I really got into politics though smoking as well as religion. I really care a lot about what I want at the time and sometimes tend to ignore everyone around me haha. But I can turn it on or off as well, like at school etc it just happens sometimes. So yea, it could be very self expanding.

it's all I use it for, I'd argue it's all anyone uses it for, I guess they just didn't stop to look, which is surprising because cannabis puts us in a state thats perfect for that. I'd argue I use cannabis psychoactive properties like leary or mckenna did.

I can't learn shit when I'm high. God forbid I forget about a test until after I start smoking. I could read the same thing ten times and I wouldn't remember the information. It also makes me read a lot slower. Reading in general is miserable when I'm stoned.

Have you ever watched A Scanner Darkly? But have you ever seen A Scanner Darkly on weed, man. On weed?

Apparently meditation puts your brain wave pattern into alpha AND beta mode at the same time. Which was thought to be impossible. Thing is, Cannabis does this too. It's the only thing that does. I think that's why they go so well together. Weed helped me start meditating. I found that even when I wasn't smoking I could get that sort of high feeling back if I lay down and relaxed.
Went from there and yeh.... Now I'm exploring my brain.
I can tell you, if I've never tried weed I would still be buying into the bullshit the government tells us. I'd be an anxious kid studying science to get a job I don't want because it was the image my parents and grandparents and teachers had of me. And I would just fit perfectly into that neat little image. I wouldn't be happy.
I am happy now and I enjoy thinking more freely. Like (I think it was) Alan Watts said "We can be free from any images people have of us".
And that's a very liberating thing.

One of my favorite things to do when I'm high is get lost in my thoughts. When I can I write them down. I call them highdeas. Fuck I'm clever.

^^^^ Me too! Sometimes i play soccer (im the keeper) when high, and i can catch the ball with far more agility and precision than when im sober... playing guitar gets faster too... in fact, i would almost say i become a "ninja" whenever im high LOL! :stoned:

Without getting into too much detail, but using cannabis allows me to enter pyschadelic states that used to be only available using other substances. Possibly along the alpha-wave route discussed but regardless I appreciate the experience each time and feel blessed that the insights which have been made available to me are so easily accessable.

One of the best strains for doing this is Sweet Tooth or Blueberry...some weed is very limiting mentally while other strains allow you to remain very clear & lucid, in a very stoned yet stable state of mind. It really all depends on the weed. :rasta:

Gonna toke on some bud now I call "high school" because it smells like the first kind buds I used to get in high school...piney minty grapey..mmmmm
