I am in the process of building a hidden grow room in a basement.
I would love pix of other hidden grow rooms to pull ideas off of that may work with mine as well.
I will post pix of mine in a day or so....
I only have a passage way framed in and the hidden door installed as of today. I hope to get it skinned up after Turkey day, then I will start building the veg area then the flowering area in the hidden area.
If you have pix of the construction, I would love to see those too.... but finished work is good too.
Be well.

"must spread rep before giving to Dutch again".........Dutch i feel the same way.

how you doing serpentine? I dont have any advice off the top of my head for a hidden space but maybe if you took pics of your area we (cann.com) could give tips on the stealthiness of your area.

Pssst....Serpentine...hey over here. Hey Man, I'm not too sure about these secret rooms, but I heard the best thing about them is.....NObody knows about them.:)

Sounds like a fun thread, can't wait to see everyone's invisible rooms and secret hiding spots.

LOL, yeah yeah yeah....
I figure with a bit of anonymity and not saying where the stealth grow room is... folks wold not mind posting about theirs...

Here are some pix.
The house was built in 1960 on top of the plot of a burned out house. Everything was cleared out and the new house built. The house is slightly down hill from the road it faces, and in the pic you can see where the high point of the earth has been dug out in the earth area, the street is about 7-10 higher on the other side of that wall so there is drainage/run off which I guess is why they did not make the entire basement with a finished concrete floor. The area I am standing in to take the pix of the framed wall I built is as long as the house, but only half as wide. The other half is the earth part which was divided by pillars and half walls. One of the previous owners busted out a section of the half wall probably to be able to use the earth side for storage (as they built shelving on the earth side) and also probably to make it easier to put in the central HVAC system.
Anyway, it is in the area that the half wall was removed where I am building the wall with the hidden door. To the right of this area, there are three half walls with floor to rafter book shelves which I will cover from behind to make the half wall disappear. On the left of the area I am building in there was two half walls that have already been filled in and shelves and whatnot have been created there.

First pic is of the area framed in with the door attached.
Second pic is just of the door, with the camera turned to the side.
Third pic is of the cam on its side with the door open.
fourth pic is the area I will be clearing out, relaying plastic, and then building the gro area. I am thinking I will be able to use both the natural temp and the HVAC system for my heating and cooling needs.
The fifth pic is of the area that is not dug down completely as low as the rest of the basement and the area I intend to build and place my veg cabinet.

not going to have shelves infront of it, but hanging stuff.... extention cords, shovels, just crap you keep in the garage or basement but hang on the wall...

I was just talking to an old friend of mine about hidden rooms, and he once saw where a guy had a room in his basement lined vertically with knotty pine tongue-in-grove panels. One of the knots popped out for a finger hole, and the seams of the panels made the hidden door 100% stealth. I loved this idea and thought it was worth sharing.

LOL, not my house....
thats all I will say on the subject....
LOL
the home owner is a serial pack rat, and runs a dog rescue.... so.... But that is something I stay on them about.... as soon as the weather is nice enough to park a truck outside the whole thing will be spic and span..... Also, there are items in the earth side that have been there since the place was built....

Side note... I am having issues with the locking system I put on the door... I forgot to take my camera tonight when i did the electrical and to get the locking system to work right...
My idea was to put a sconce on the outside of the door, and on the inside have the bod the sconce is mounted to connected to the two spring loaded locks (one lock on the top and one on the bottom) but the connection between the sconce and the box is too weak to use the sconce as the mechanism to unlock the two locks. Turn the sconce and it turns the box inside pulling on the chains connected to the spring locks causing them to pull back allowing the door to unlock and open..... I am thinking of a better was to reinforce the box and how the sconce connects to the box so when you turn the sconce light it will not bind on the wood allowing a smooth turn.

I was also looking at possibly using electromagnet locks but after seeing the prices on even the smallest ones.... dont think it is something I will be able to do....

Will get pix tomorrow I think....

5-snakes (your new Native American name): Thanks for posting the new pics. Everything looks really good. Nice electrical work and good carpenter work. I like watching it all go together.

You have got me thinking about a plan now...heehee. There is an old road bed on the farm......Wonder if I should dig back into the bank and go underground for the weather (cool)? I can't figure out how to put a ceiling in such a thingamajig! I guess it would be easier to build a shed outdoors, but not as stealth.

Any suggestions sconce-master? :)

Hey serp, try mounting a bigger plate on the face of your box and get some of those teflon chair leg sliders and mount them to the face of the plate touching the door. Use the threaded tube with lamp repair kits to run wire through for the center pivot then an inch or so above that center tube use a piece of all thread and bolt the top of the sconce through wall to top of box. You will need to slot that top hole the path the bolt will take when you turn the sconce of course. That should stiffen it up but if that falls through then a remote cable is a cinch to run. Hang a bicycle on the wall and run the hand brake cable through the wall. Squeeze the brake on the bike and pop goes the door. Lots of shit has a cable operated mech on it, mower, tiller, snow blower....also can disguise the pull start rope to do the same... weed eater, leaf blower....bolt it to wall n pa-dow.

The hidden "bomb shelter" is pimp!! I've built those too. Get a sm. track-hoe dig out and constuct same as a house foundation(footer, block/poured wall) only smaller. The roof is easy, pre-cast concrete floor beams. They use them to construct buildings on soggy soil areas and for just your situation too. They make giant plastic boulders to cover the entry(concrete sewer pipe with hatch)......call me the "stealth bomber" LOL

Cannakeeper...what if your budget is a shovel and do it your self concrete block interior walls. How to roof it then? thanks. Unfortunatly pimp shit is not cheap but for this it would be worth the investment for what it would yeild. There is no other real safe way to do it aside from steel beams and roof deck which is also expensive. Could maybe do it for 5k and easily pay for it in 4-5 mos. If I had the place to do it I would pull the finances from somewhere even if I had to sell my stang. I could buy a nicer one the following year and be ass-out ripped while I wait. Also, careful of too much "back work", too much of that recently got me a spine surgery

What kind of mustang do you have Cannakeeper? I think dozers and contractors might not be too stealth......:)

I have kind of given up on the door for the moment...
But now that I have an additional idea to work with thanks to cannakeeper, I might be getting back on it in a day or two.... Thanks

I got to work on the area that the grow area is going to be. Laid holed red brick on the earth to raise the bed off the dirt for temp reasons, and to allow the run off that does come into the earth area to still be able to run off without hurting anything I build in there. I will be laying plastic back over the exposed earth over the brick and all the other exposed areas. I need to get some more lumber to get it finished then move the babies into it....

Heres a few pix of the lay out...

What kind of mustang do you have Cannakeeper? I think dozers and contractors might not be too stealth......:)89' coupe ground pounder and a drag car just like it. Rent the track-hoe... takes bout 10 mins to learn to use it. and as far as any eyes..not unheard of to work on a drain or septic system or.....It is a huge undertaking without the rescources to DIY. Allowing anyone else to know is risky but there is always small gro possibilities til you can upgrade.

You can get some quickcrete bags and spread it dry over wetened ground, mist with a hose, smooth with trowel and the next day you have a concrete floor. Not strong enough for floor supports and that kind of shit but 3/4 inch you wont know it's not 4". With open earth inside i've been told radon is a possibility but not sure how much truth there is to that. If anything a smooth floor that can be painted and then washed is such an awesome benefit.

another cool idea.... Thanks

the original idea was to dig out a lowered bed and add our soil mix to the hole and grow in it.... but after seeing all the moisture, I chucked that idea fast....
Never gave any consideration to radon... something to think about....
