Veg/flower/veg?

I dont have the capacity (nor are the plants big enough yet) to clone for sex, but i thought i read somewhere that you could change the light cycle, force it to flower to see what sex, and then put it back into veg mode.

I also read that you could cover one of the leaves/nodes with black construction paper for the 12hr dark period and tell the sex.

I would imagine this would stress the plant a bit. Im curious as to what everyone else suggests?

VFV does stress plants, some people swear by it, others think it is too rough on plants. IMO the branch idea doesn't sound stressful, I heard use a paper bag instead of cardboard.

i like the paper bad idea, it would have to be a decent quality bag, most of them are pretty thin

you can just get some from your local grocery store. get paper, not plastic. not to mention it's better for the enviroment! if you go green, then GO GREEN!

Do you suggest covering the whole node (from stem out) or just the last fan leaf? Sorry if that seems like a noob question, just never used this method before.
