Here's what NOT to do when growing under lights, it amazes me IDIOTS are still stealing electricity, this has been a common link between quite a few grow busts. The METER guys come on a regular basis to read the meters, additionally I'll wager that their NOT paying any electricity bill ,well sort of,over here most electricity suppliers charge a minimum monthly charge, probably the only people who pay that little are little old ladies who eat cold cans of cat food, and don't use a heater in winter,I'll bet their bills went from average for their size house to the monthly minimum..... DUMB....

Sydney raids bust Vietnamese drug syndicate, say police
March 14, 2005 - 5:05PM

A network of family and friends was behind a sophisticated drug syndicate which grew hydroponic marijuana worth up to $2.5 million in several Sydney homes, police said today.

The cannabis was seized when police uncovered what they allege is a drug syndicate operating in Sydney's Vietnamese community.

More than 100 police from the state's South-East Asian Crime Squad raided 12 homes and a business in Revesby, Padstow, Panania, Milperra and Fairfield, and found more than 1,000 cannabis plants ranging from seedlings to mature specimens.

After searching the properties about 9.30am (AEDT), police arrested two couples who they allege masterminded the criminal syndicate, growing cannabis inside at least eight homes.

A 30-year-old Revesby man and his 28-year-old wife, and a 39-year-old Fairfield man and his 38-year-old de facto were being questioned at Bankstown police station today.

Two more women were arrested and were also being questioned.

Police said two were expected to be refused bail and would appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow charged with cultivating and possessing prohibited drugs.

The head of the South-East Asian Crime Squad, Detective Superintendent Deborah Wallace, said intelligence had led police to elements of Sydney's Vietnamese community which had links to the production of hydroponic cannabis.

She described the syndicate as a "family and friends" operation.

"It seems to be that a network is out there with the methodology passed from one member to the other," Det Supt Wallace said.

"Although there's a decline in hydroponic cannabis cultivation in people of non-Asian backgrounds, there's been an increase in the Asian community."

Det Supt Wallace said police had formed Strike Force Meta in January to investigate the activities of the alleged Vietnamese syndicate.

Today's raids netted hydroponic cannabis hauls which were among the biggest seized by the recently formed South-East Asian Crime Squad, she said.

Police will allege the principal couple behind the operation also ran a hydroponic equipment business in south-west Sydney.

Those involved in the drug syndicate had allegedly stolen electricity from the main power grid and diverted it to several of the homes where the cannabis was being grown.

Police Minister Carl Scully has said previously criminal gangs are forcing south-east Asian families to act as crop-sitters.

But Det Supt Wallace said the syndicate was a different scenario and those allegedly growing the crops seized today were the masterminds behind the drug ring.

Officers from Energy Australia, specialist agronomists and the Department of Immigration were helping police with inquiries.

AAP
So they have a Hydro supply business(large used forklifts),they grow in their OWN homes, and they steal electricity.....they went for the triple wammy of stupidity.BTW I still feel sorry for the morons, but this won't help the government situation at the moment.
I reckon I'd be right in guessing that the stealing of the electricity was how they got on to them, also they had the windows papered up ,not curtains or blinds hiding panda film for the light surpression.
