I have recently been diagnosed with a rare case of Social Anxiety Disorder. I say rare because its origins are rare. My anxiety can get so severe that apparently exactly like show symptoms of someone who was severely abused as a child.(I know 100% I was not abused) And one of the symptoms is borderline suicidal depression due to the difficulty I have forming even the most simple and basic human relationships.

Sorry for all this info on my personal life but I felt it necessary for you to fully understand where I'm coming from when I ask this.

I'm currently on 4 different Prescriptions.

Wellbutrin - 200mg
Propranolol HLC - 80mg
Hydroxyzine Pamoate -150mg
Zoloft - 150mg
Every Day

I hate them all. I hate how they make me feel and what they do to me.

Basically I was hoping if anyone who has had any experience using using medical marijuana for mental disorders could share their experiences. Good or bad. Plus does anyone have any suggestions on strains that might help my specific situation?

Now an associate should be getting some Hasberry, Magic Bud and Sweet Bud seeds soon. He has offered to share if they could help. Ive read about the first two and the both are advertised as a "Social high" So does anyone think they might be helpful to me?:hippy:

I suffer from similar problems. Medical cannabis may be able to help you! I too hated the medications I was on, and how they made me feel, but now I use cannabis and I feel a lot more relief, without all the side effects. You should read around the forums and do some searches if looking for specific strains or others who have similar issues. Have you smoked before? If not I suggest you start small, 1 hit and wait 15 minutes, repeat if desired. Indica or sativa? Indica strains are known for their couchlock effect while sativas are known for their cerbal uplifting effect, and there are a lot of hybrids inbetween, infact it may be difficult to find a 100% pure indica or sativa. Now from the little info you have now which seems like it would help more? I prefer indicas because they help me relax, reduce muscle tension, and put me in a generally positive mood. Sativas can sometimes exaccerbate my anxiety, but normally only if I smoke too much. I do like sativas in the daytime though, because they provide mood enhancement, more focused thought patterns, and a little bit of an energizing kick. I'm sure you have other questions but I'll wait till you reply with a little more info to answer them.

There are a few other good threads out there on the subject. I am hypo-manic, and have severe anxiety disorder. There are a lot of good strains you can use. I would stick to the heavy indica dominant crosses. UP, Social highs are sometimes descriptions used for sativas. BAD...lol
Sativas can make some poele, mostly people with anxiety issues have panic/anziety attacks. Do some research, and you might find a gem.

its hard to determine what will work best for you physiologically until you try a few strains but definitely do a lil research...i've found that the majority of ppl find relief in Afghan or Skunk dominant hybrids and a few of my favorites for severe anxiety are Skunk#1, SharkShock, Aurora Indica and G13/Sk...but its all a matter of personal chemistry so what works for one person may not work for another, for example i can't handle heavy sativa strains as they make my anxiety worse with racy thoughts, nervousness, etc. but others may have the opposite effect...the rule of thumb is generally indica but you got to experiment a bit...i'd recommend you grow out a few Afghan and Skunk hybrids and see if u find something nice and euphoric...i'd also recommend you clone everything so when you find that 1 in a 1000 you can keep her for good...alll the best in your search

1st get off the Hydroxyzine
2nd get off the Propranolol

Taper off them or you will wind up in the ER.

Get another Doctor becasue whomever is giving you all that together is killing you! its too much.

You're going to need a few different strains to help you.

Simply speanking Indicas are better for those long nights and days when you're over the top and need to calm down. BUT being stuck to your couch for the rest of your life isnt going to help either. You're going to need a heavy, medium and light smoke - think opiate type of feeling. you dont want the mental mindfuck stimulating stuff. Mellow, easy, is the key.

Hit the seed stores online. search and read and learn. Look up every indica you can find.

Strains to try - all indica dom.

Ice or White Ice, Nepal Kush, Taskenti, papaya

for me each is a little different.

I suffer from post traumatic stress disorder and was diagnosed with mild schizophrenia. I have been through some outrageous and scary things in my life. I've been through abuse, war in the Army, seeing death of my mother to ovarian cancer, and a few even worse events. My brain seems to produce more dopamine at random times which increases blood pressure and adrenaline. This can bring me into rages in my own head. I have tried a number of medicines in the past and all of them made me feel worse on them then off them. Even dealing with the illness without medication was better then the side effects I felt from some antipsychotic drugs. I got to give my wife credit for being so understanding of my disorder. I tend to get short at times without control.

After some time I found just prozac for depression and use of marijuana is the best combination for controlling my mood swings and anxiety. I hardly have the adrenaline rushes of rage when I can smoke bud. I also have no significant side effects besides maybe some lost motivation but to be honest I had that already from my illness so all in all I would say I am much much better now!

That is some real truth right there. The only reason marijuana is not recognized as an effective psychoactive treatment is because big business would have too much money to lose if you could just grow your own remedy in your home rather then pay hundreds per month for insurance and a $40 co-pay at the pharmacy every month to feel only somewhat better. Meanwhile the objective is really to fix one thing and create another so you need more medicine and hence they make even more $$. It's such a sham and crime against humanity.

i know this thread is old, but i suffered from anxiety attacks etc. and yes anxiety and partners do NOT mix! i was on zoloft etc and they just mess with your head it made me so much worse i was bed bound for 2 days with a massively irrational fear of death, so i kicked the drugs idea... and went to pot! it hasn't failed me since, except when in short supply... now it is nice to be smoking more then fighting with the missus!!! and thats saying something.
