I purchased seeds (feminized) from uk site at first np sprouting them now that a few well several months have passed 2 of the seeds have gone black upon attempting to sprout them.
I have never had such a time sprouting seeds as these last to and still no tap root just gone black.I stored them the way they arrived didnt change anything they were in a lil plastic ziplock in a cd case behind a cd.They sat alll summer and i just tried to start them fer a mama and nuttin but Black seed.
The first one i thought well it got cold and that may have done it.This one was soaked in ph balanced water and then put in air tight test tube device in dark thought itd be warm enuff but /sigh it got cold.
The second one I went with my tried and true way of a 24 hr soak in ph balanced water and then same water soaking paper towel and the put into a baggie not completely sealed placed under our dvd player and ontop of our cable box . Mmmm stays nice temp there .I thought k tap root in a day(as it has been the case any seed i began that way) /sigh going on week 2 and it has bugun to become black as well.
All seeds prior from same batch were sucess within 48 hrs inc soak.
Were they stored wrong? or to long ?was at least 6 months mainly summer months with an ac running in same room never below 73-75 degrees in room .
I am Stumped and Without any more feminized seeds for a mama. /sigh

I had about the same thing. My prob was they took all my equipment and I have to start all over. If they turn black and going on 2 weeks then the are rotting. The cold place maybe too cold and the warm place maybe too warm. Sounds like you know what your doing though. You don't have anyone that wants you to stop growing do you ? I ask because I stored over 500 bucks worth of seed at a loved ones house when I got popped. Well my bro wanted to start new mothers and when I got the seed back I had the same problem. Before I wasted all of them I got some bagseed they didn't find out of a box in my closet that were ten years old and they popped no prob. Come to find out someone told the loved one that wishes me to stop the seeds were there and they microwaved my seeds for a few seconds. I got one big bud seeds to pop out of all of them it turned male and I mixed it with Hawaii x skunk so now it's big bud x hawaii x skunk. Bro's growing the mother and I started a seed bank for myself.

Try again with bagseed just to make sure your technique is good. I know losing fem seed is like losing a child. You don't know how old yours were but 10 year old bagseed pops. Think about what they go through out side all winter.

Mine is also a tale of sorrow but it can get better. Keep trying.

I've always been taught to store seeds in an airtight container in my refrigerator so my guess would be yes.......they were stored incorrectly. Better luck with the next set. I've kept some in the fridge for over a year and they popped and grew fine.

better yet, place your seeds in dry, uncooked rice, and THEN put it in the fridge for storage ... you 'can' get seed-ruining condensation even in a fridge, the rice will absorb any moisture ...

I'm feeling like these answers answered my question as I'd had almost identical situation.

Thankfully I do have plants of all my varietys growing (except for the freebie seeds)...I just need to be patient with the cloning process and try to stabilize growing enviroment.
