Hi! I'm new to growing so I don't know much about the height and wide a plant can grow to. Does anyone have a rough estimate of what the height and wide will be if it is grown indoor? and also does it yield more flowers if the plant is taller or wider?

depends on the strain and the majority species, if its mostly indica itll be short and broad, and if its sativa itll be tall and bushy. do u know what kinda seeds they are? it doesnt matter whether its bushy or tall to determine the flowers, though bushy plants have more sections of flowers, if ur groin one plant, bush it out by topping the plant, to get the most buds out of it!

Does anyone know how to reduce the smell of the plants so that ppl won't notice it?

One way is to use a carbon filter in your grow room.

go to discounthydroponics.com and check out a carbon filter. i used to have two "professional" carbon filters, but i decided to make my own for a quarter of the price, and it works just as good. Also, look into ONA gel, it takes over the smell of the potent kronic! Good luck man!

Can anyone tell me what sort of lighting should I use?
say a 250watt is good for what?
I know that 400hps is good for flowering.. how about a 600hps?
what light is good for the veg stage?
etc...
Cheers.

what they never tell u in this forum is that if u do indoor growing.. it'll cost u heaps to start. I've spent about 600$ for just buying a suitable growing place for my plants and buying the lights and stuff like that... damn.

Search for pelletized activated carbon or Kent Marine pelletized activated carbon.
Some local aquarium shops carry it, make sure it is "Pelletized Activated Carbon". I found a Canada and USA store that carries it at http://www.bigalsonline.ca/catalog/product.xml?product_id=24377;category_id=1901

$600?!?! dam man what did you get for $600 man? My setup(600wt hps) thats light, lineing for the walls, circulation fan and extractor fan. cost me round $300-350 for the lot.
And just incase you get confused, these prices are in NZ dollars.
The initial start-up cost might be high but it pays for itself 10 times over when you harvest your first crop!!

I keep telling ppl get to a book , I can,t understand why ppl strugle along when there are so many exellent books out there to cover EVERYTHING you need to know about growing.
What you spent $600 on fails me when you can get up and running for about $100 if you know what your looking for.
My first grow cost me about £65 , it was basic but worked fine . I didn,t have a lot of bud (2 1/2 oz ish) but it was worth it as 2 1/2oz would of cost me over £300 to buy .
Old sunbed with replaced tubes.....£35 :)
Seeds.....£15 :)
pots.......£4 :)
Nuttrients...£10 :)
Disco...... :D

Ed Rosenthal has already answered all the questions! If you are new to growing like myself you owe it to yourself to pickup a few of his books! Go to Barnes and Noble or Borders books and you will see how many grow books they carry. A shitload! I have been doing this for under a year and Have learned so much from reading his great books and making mistakes. Book knowledge and hands on experience. This forum is great for discussing techniques, methods and ideas, but not for learning the basics folks. Support the people who have brought years and years of knowledge to us and purchase one of their books, they are doing their part to help everyone become better cultivators!

Breathe on your plants if u need CO2.. why spend money when u're already a CO2 making machine?

good plug sawleaf, he should hire you as a publisist no shit! I just bought one of his, and this forum is great to read through.

Haha HvyFuel, I am a hypocrite, because I do talk to my plants nice and close so they can get the CO2 from my breath, but not all day long at least. Sometime I can't help but sit and stare at those beautiful things! Oh Cherylsyv, which book did you pickup? Me a publisist for Ed? Yeah I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'm all about people learning and overgrowing this country, but there are so many people that start growing without even learning the basics, they'll spend all this money on supplies, but forget the book with sound knowledge. I am a fan of Ed's books and I buy them and recommend them because of his years of experience. By purchasing his books you are thanking him and supporting him as well, and that's what he really needs, especially after his arrest.

I think the plants are about 2 weeks old and they have small flowers on them.. I read somewhere before that's how they determine the sex of the plant right? I'm having them in a 18/6 at the moment. 18 light 6 dark.
sawleaf
06-10-2004, 03:45 PM
Wow they are flowering at 2 weeks. Well if you want them to continue flowering put them under 12/12 light, but if you want to veg them, put them under 24hours of light. Something may have stressed them.

Oh Ace242, are the flowers on all of your plants or some? Some plants will show sex early. They are probably jusy pre-flowers if they have not been put into the flowering light cycle just yet. Don't worry about them. Just watch for any males flower that may pop up. I'm not sure if they will, but some male plants can start flowering early as well. Depends on the variety. But at least you can tell the sex early now. Here check ot the link.

Ah I see. The thing about most Americans is that we don't really care what people say about us. Yeah our country if pretty fucked up, but so are a lot of other countries. Every country has it's plus and minus. Currently I'm just sick of the bullshit government with Bush. Well we'll see how things change after the election. :)

strange... I have a plant that was around 3 weeks old and already started flowering but the others didn't... hardly had any leaves.. what does that mean? not sure if it was female or not.. checked but didn't see any male or females signs.
