What's a shame about that is because of the insecticide the honey is no longer edible... A trained bee-keeper would have came out and moved the hive for him.

Considering the bees are disapearing, this should be an outrage.
It may not seem like much now, but he actualy wiped out alot of food producing creatures.

look, the bees died, yes its sad, maybe they didnt have too.

but look, it is just one colony of bees, it will not cause global warming, nor the extinction of bees in the world.

next time you step on a single insect you should expect as much shit as is given here.

those are some wicked sick pics.

Bees pollinate 96% of the world's crops.

Can you live without them? NO.

No grass, no cows, even you can see the chain reaction no bees would create. That would eventually mean the end of WEED also. I knew that would get your attention!

Sorry to double post guys, but I had a thought.

all this dude had to do to get rid of the bees would have been to pull off the cover the BBQ at nite. The bees would not bother anyone at nite if approached cautiously.

The bees would have took their honey and left in the morning if the cover was removed. In 2 hours or so.

If anyone has a similar situation, please don't do this to the bees. There are usually beekeepers who would have gotten the hive off the property free. Thanks in advance.

I don't want to eat that dude's BBQ either with cockroach spray all over it. Wonder why he thought bug spray could ever be cleaned completely off. Yuck.

this is perfect. more people need to see this. And think about this, they can sorta have different types of honey based off the different types of flowers the bees use to get the nectars from, what would hemp honey taste like? that would be sick to try one day.

that may be so but considering that BEES polinate 80 to 90% of the food crop in the world honey isnt the only thing you will be doing without.
Can you live without food?
food shortages would get more and more
food prces will sky rocket.
get the picture?
chicken dont come in a box from walmart It starts out on the farm,
People must stop and look at the suply chain and ask, "Can we do without?"
Once the web is broken it can not be repaired. No onther incest in nature does what a bee does naturally.
We loose the bees put simply........... we are screwed.
But oh well I have 15 months of food stuff put back and over 2500 rounds of ammo for the impending ecconomic collaps and chaos.
I guess you can say i have been a busy bee.

yeah I had a bad experience when I was a kid and got attacked by a swarm of bees when I was 6 or 7. We were in the woods and there was a hive that was really low to the ground. I didn't notice it when I was walking and tripped on it causing it to break open and a ton of bees flew out and I got stung by A LOT so thats why i say FUCK BEES!

Just thought I would mention that about 25 years ago I was working at a apartment complex. I opened a wall and found a huge honeybee nest. I called the local aspca and they had people come out and move the bees. Back then I was informed that it was a crime to kill them.

yeah and horse flies. Those suck because they bite instead of sting. So you can get bit by the same one multiple times and hordes of them will chase you around.

I think bees are amazing. Sure it sucks to get stung by one, but I don't think I have been stung for more than 30 years --- not since I was a little kid. Wasps are a bit frightening, but honey bees, bumble bees, and the really amazing huge carpenter bees are almost no threat at all, and I will go out of my way to get right up as close as possible and watch them do their amazing work. Check it out sometime -- they are cool.

Bees are defintely on the decline. Just a few yeas ago I used to get TONS of honey bees in the garden --- going about their business, polinating tomatoes and other stuff. And we used to get plenty of the solitary native bumble bees too. A couple of years ago, the honey beees started to drop off, and the bumble bees seemed to increase. Then this year there were hardly any bees of either kind. Maybe that is why I didn't get any tomatoes until about August, when I usually get them several MONTHS earlier. Or maybe it was the weather.

People are so disconnected from where their food comes from these days, that they have no idea the things that affect them personally, such as bees. If the bees disappeared tomorrow, a lot of people would starve within a year --- like millions or billions of people would starve. Saying you hate bees because you got stung once, is like saying you hate the sun because of a sunburn you got when you were a kid. Without it, you would die, so get over it.

No doubt, this guy with the "bee-bee-que" had a dangerous situation with a full fucking swarm of that size living in his barbeque. If he had just pulled that cover off, he would have been in some shit. But the best thing to do would have been to call a beekeeper. They may charge a small fee, or they may come get the bees for free, but it is worthwhile to save the swarm. American farmers pay billions of dollars every year to have beekeepers bring pollinator bees to their crops. But for some unknown reason, there has been a massive die-off over the past few years, and there are not enough bees to do the work. A healthy wild swarm like this one is valuable because it may be geneticaly resistant to whatever is killing off the commercial hives. If you run across a wild swarm, let a beekeeper know, and do NOT bug bomb it!

Good thing it's only the European honey bee that is having failing hives, and it's not all that much, and only on some bee keeper's farms.

Euro Honey bees make up 30 percent of agricultural pollination, and the die off's are in all actuality a drop in the bucket.

It's not just European bees. Here in the Berkshires, the apple producers are noting severe declines in bee counts and apple harvests.

It sucks even more evolutionarily because getting honey bees to make themselves at home isn't always an easy task, and a hive that chooses whatever readily-available structure is present would have produced offspring that were better suited to living in a world inhabited by humans. And honey bees are very peaceful and docile insects that are unlikely to take interest in humans unless actually disturbed.

That's a damn shame. Another ignorant fool who doesn't care to identify the insect before killing it.

LolaGal

I noticed someone thought the bees would come after cyan. at nite if he took the cover off.

I keep BEES for honey.

They are tame and docile if you know how to handle them. I have taken the top off a hive left abandoned in woods for 5 years with bare hands and no bee keeping equipment. I would not advise anyone to do it however. They did get grouchy and climbed up both arms covering both. Got stung 2 times on arms, should've smoked em a little and they wouldn't have stung 2 times.

It was very RARE the bees came to grill, probably a lost swarm from local beekeeper's hive. It was a very poor choice of cover and insulation.

HOW TO HANDLE BEES: Call professional. If DIY type, puff a couple of puffs of smoke on them. They think hive on fire, and ignore you and fill up on honey. At night they are easily handled, put on truck etc. I would have slipped quietly to the cover of grill at 2 am and slid it off and ran around house quickly. They would be gone in 2 hours after dawn leaving comb behind.

This hive would have frozen to death in the winter anyway with no insulation from cover to protect them if in cold area.:(

Has anyone addressed the question why the bee population is decreasing?

I doubt its due to people killing bees like this. So I wouldnt call them direct contributors to the honey bees potential extinction. you people defending bees probably have ant traps set up all over the place, and they are decomposers and help and bla bla blaaaaaaa boooring.

No ant traps in my house. By wiping behind the sink after use and making sure there are no other water sources, suck as leaky pipes, and by keeping the floors swept and no crud buildup inside the top part of the stove, you just don't get a lot of ants around here. If they can't find food and water they just lose interest.
I agree with Chameleon- you should look up the concept of 'the tragedy of the commons'. It's important to understand when dealing with any type of conservation issue, be it wildlife, open spaces, clean air, or dumping...

Mr. Beekiller,

I bet there are plenty of beekeepers and/or farmers in your area who would have loved to take that hive off your hands.

Reminds me of a person I once talked to who thought the world would be better without "y'know trees and stuff".

If you CAN make honey without bees, I bet the world will make you RICH. :wtf:

As far as I know, we can make syrup from trees, corn and sorghum and beets. There IS no way to make honey without bees......maybe artificially honey flavored corn syrup.

MMMMMmmmm...artificially honey flavored corn syrup. ,
