LOOKING FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS!
Im using 5 gallon buckets to do deep water culture growing. Everything SEEMS to be where its supposed to be (ph 5.8, tds about 1200-1400 using straight tapwater, water temp is around 70 degrees, room temp about 75-85 degrees) but for some reason about a week or two into bloom my plants will start getting thin yellowish-green leaves all over. These leaves get thiner and yellower until they're so thin that they dry out and crumble up. The plant is perfectly healthy in veg and the problem does not start until blooom (1000 watt system). This has been the story for a couple of harvest and I cant figure out what the problem is. This is a slow but sure killer and its been like watching my best freinds die a slow death. Has anyone experienced this problem and can you offer me some good advice?

I would suggest root products. I particularly like Rhizotonic and Cannazym.

Not that I'm saying it will fix your problem.....without any pics or fertilizer info it's pretty impossible to say. Fill out the troubleshooting form in plant problems forum and then hopefully someone can give you some actual, useful information. Pics would REALLY help as well.

Are you sure those temps are correct? Do you have a fresh air intake?

Ok I've been having a problem with tissue paper thin leaves for about three harvests now. I think I'm doing everything right but no matter what, about a week or two into bloom ALL! my plants start getting thin yellow and eventually burnt crispy leaves. The ones that don't die are stunted. Although I've had several mothers I've had the same strain for about three years now. In the begging everything was great, it was almost too! easy to grow big bushes of buds, now I just cant get it right. A friend suggested I start over from seed because my strain might be getting weak. Another friend told me that strains never get weak. I don't know? Whats the longest you've kept a strain before starting from seed again? Does cloning generation after generation eventually make your plants weaker?
P.S. Three years ago I started from clones so there is no telling what generation I actually started with:rastasmoke:

as far as i know those figure are correct.

I don't know about getting weak but you are talking about a very old plant. Maybe we are just talking old ? Your clones are the same age as the original seed it came from and if you don't know how long it was cloned before you had it then 3+ years. That's old dude. About 2 years me and my bro start running into prob's. Clones get deformed and don't respond good to what it did a year before.
Time for fresh and then you can tell if it's the plants or you. lol

The friend that told you to start back with seeds is most likely correct. After many times of cloning for some reason you can go from Good to Bad in one harvest.

Kind of annoyed, I just had to merge four threads on the same topic...
Please fill out the troubleshooting form. You may have to do it twice- once for your mother room and once for your flower room. Sickly mothers give sickly and weak clones. You should be concentrating on making your mother room conditions perfect so that you have the healthiest moms possible before evaluating whether you have some irreparable genetic damage. I am running at least a half dozen clone-only strains whose genetic age is 10+ years with no loss in vigor. Of these, two are over 20 years from seed. Weakening over time IS possible but not the first thing that I would assume given the description- instead, look for rootbound mothers in used-up crappy soil, giving pathetic slow-rooting and hard to harden-off clones. Regenerate your mothers in the best quality soil you can find. I have recently switched to BioCanna medium cut with vermiculite for my mothers. It is very stable over time. Also try running a silicate supplement in your mother room to strengthen leaf tissues. This may be applied as liquid fertilizer or as a foliar feed given once a week as directed on the bottle.

Stinky, That is most impressive. It makes me have to think outside the hydro res. My bro does do some things I am trying to stop. Mistreating mothers maybe one. I can keep them much longer but don't have the setup anymore.
All they need is love.

Thank god Stinskster....where have you been? This place becomes absolute CHAOS when you are gone. :( When I say things people just don't hear it but I'm kind of used to that. If Rasta had filled out the form in the first place (like I asked) we may have had his problem solved by now.

And I'm fairly sure its OPERATOR ERROR vs the plant being the problem. I love the way so many folks blame the plant itself instead of their own actions. Every single harvest starts well, thencroaks. Yeah, that's the plant being a bugger all right. And not at any point has Rasta put ANY useful info on this post.....none. I don't even know what type of nutes he's using.......but yeah, lets blame the plant.

I've been laid out with the flu for a week. But I'm BACK, BABY! Complete with fancy green boogers and a gross wet cough! Yay!
LocNar, even though I really prefer E&F SOG for ease of production these days, I still prefer to keep my moms in a good soil/compost type medium for ease of maintenance and also just in case anything happens, they are quite portable in their pots! My good buddy Chron ran an inventory for me this weekend and yelled at me about my plant count, so that's gonna come in kinda handy in the next few days, lol... I wish I could just have a yard sale of extra plants, lol... I'm up to 38 unique mothers, 5 unique fathers, and duplicates of many of these for backup... running them all in hydro would literally be a full time job, as they all require slightly different conditions/nute mixes, so I do it in soil using a base fert and some small squeese bottles with diluted supplements that only plants that want that supplement get squirted onto the soil right before watering with the base fert. For example, the commercial strains like MSS and NL and Papaya want a lot of Nitrogen, so a squirt from a ketchup bottle of partially-diluted fish emulsion does them up nice, where the same amount of N given to NCDG or SourBubble would practically kill them!
They also get weekly Si + SMC + Spray n Grow foliar treatments to load up the new growth with silicates and supplement the waxy cuticle with some oil so that they clone easier when the time comes.

For real? God damn Girl. I'm just getting the hang of 2 strains at a time. For sure you've been at it way longer. But that is impressive. i am truly astounded that you even have time to tend to the boards.
any chance you have a thread showing your setup?
damn.

Awsome Stinky, wish I could come to the yardsale. That's a full time job I would take. I just did save my hawaii x skunk with a big bud father. My bro is starting that strain now and says it doesn't smell as strong. We will see what it's like. OH, and I just barely saved my Papaya he was letting die off.
Ain't that papaya the bomb ! I love it. My bro likes the hawaiian. You have so many strains to compair, I'm jellous now. I have to wait till next year to get more beans. My bro was keeping our moms in soil but went hydro because of spidermites he gave to me. I helped him clean up and we got rid of them with bombs. The only way. He has a green thumb, I don't. If I can just keep him clean of bugs. LOL

Nah Skeet, I've only been doing this about 4 years. If that! But genetic archiving has been important to me all along, even more so than bud production, so my setup has been designed and continues to be modified to make that possible. It's a lot of work and sometimes it feels like a burden, and I occasionally dream of passing the torch if only I could find someone I trusted for both grow skills and a similar philosophy of growing weed. No grow logs recently, but my friend foxysox might have some pictures somewhere...
LocNar- That Papaya is crazygonuts big! And strong, but I find it sucks if it isn't cured for at least 3-4 weeks. The flavor and high change a LOT after jarring. I'm actually hoping to get the Hawaiian Big Bud over the winter; I think I have sourced it and now I have to sweet-talk my buddy out of a handful of seeds! Spider mites should not be significantly worse just because you are in soil actually- their life cyucle includes no soil instars. Thrips DO breed in soil but I have noticed that thrip and mite infestations appear to be almost mutually exclusive! It's odd. Anyway, you try Avid on your moms yet? It's a systemic miticide that is 100% safe in veg and can be applied the first day of flower to protect the plants for about a month. Just a thought.
