Well what Ive done is I had an old shitty laptop that I got from a friend and a nice webcam, I put the webcam into my grow closet and because my closet has shelves I put the laptop in there and ran a webcam server from my laptop so now where ever I am because I travel every 3 months or less.. I can monitor my plants from anywhere even off my phone (iPhone). Its kinda geeky but its also a great way to monitor your plants. Once I was away and I viewed the camera to notice my lights were off while they should have been on for the cycle so I had my best friend run over to my house and change the bulb (been friends for 9 years). So yeah if you need any help with setting one up just message me but all you really need to know is your ip address and how to type words on your keyboard (google search). I would give you my ip to view the live streaming of my plants but for obivious reasons Ip addresses can be tracked down.

Can add me on msn, *EDITED BY ADMIN*

You should encrypt the feed and password protect the access you don't want anyone broswing on the web getting to the feed and trying to locate the source. It's a good idea but still I found it too risky.

Yeah it is encrypted. Also the port is blocked by any incoming mac addresses that arent on the database then it wont allow the person to access, I have the mac address for my pc,my laptop and my phone so it allows only me :P

Encrypt that feed. Actually you should not just encrypt it, but set it up so that you can ssh into the machine to temporarily enable the server and then turn it back off before you disconnect.
