first time grower and need some help

im from the north east us and i recently found a place that i can have a grow op. i still live at home soo it is a stealthy spot. im using the crawl space in my basement and i have a few questions about how to go about it. i am a first time grower but ive been reading about it for quite some time. the height of my grow space is a little over 2 and a half feet. and the other width and such i know are big enough. also i am looking to have 4-6 plants in veg and 4-6 in flowering.

1. from what ive researched it looks like the sog method would be the best way to utilize the little space i have (even though it might be to short?)

2. 2 if i use the sog method what size pots should i use.

3. what kind of lights should i use and what wattage etc. but i need the lowest amount of electricity used whatever will show up less on the electric bill.

4. also from the beginning (germ.) to flowering how should i do it i researched it pretty well and there was soo many diff ways and im not sure what to use for the sog method. so how long should i veg and how long should i flower approximately.

5. how can i keep the plants from growing tall and also can i just veg them until they get to the point where the cant get any taller because of the space and then switch them to flowering.(i know the buds wont be as big and such) but is this possible.

6. i need to get seeds so what should i ask for from some friends that are common strains that could be easily acesses but are substantionly better than mids or middies and also they need to be short

These are all excellent questions...You seem to have done some research into many areas of the grow your lookin' to do...You didn't mention air circulation or temps but I'm sure that's on your list as well...

good questions i'd also like the answers to. i'm new to grows myself, a little outdoor action but it's cold now, time to moves upstairs to my sweet loft space. read a lot of thread on the perfect led grow lamp. inspired to build my own despite my zero knowledge of electronics etc.(thermal footprint an issue in my home town-less fire risc as well) considered buying a growufo but think inferior to what you could build yourself and it's more fun.i'd like to be steered in the direction of diy led. plans photos and instructions to build. not knowledgable on leds?resistors?drivers?heatsinks?wiringetc.read a lot on the wavelengths(nm) and ratios required so i have an idea on the diodes but not a clue where to start on constructing the lamp.

ok i did some research on LST and that sound like you would be the best option but i only have 28 inches(height) -the pot(10 inches) leaves me with 18 inches to work with if i get a indica and i use the LST method will i be able to fit it? and if i can fit it at what height should i start the flowering? or could i get a shorter pot but it still be wide to effectively use the LST method?
any suggestions would be appreciated

man Im not sure if you have enough height to work with there but it would be alot in how you train the plant to grow. You would trim and prune for bushiness rather than height. Do research on pruning and trimming. Look for strains that dont grow to tall. Also if the lights will be too close to the plants then you might not even want to bother.

Don't be an ass, grow when you have your own place, not your parents. They worked their lives for that and don't let your actions undermine that. That shit could take you down, not to mention stress the fuck out of your rents.
