ok so I have been around here not that long, mainly just an avid reader.
I had an idea while sitting around with my wife and best friend smokin a bowl of course. (helps me sleep) and makes social events even funner!

The idea is to get as many smokers to go out into public and smoke! im talking all around the US (maybe even the world) if each city or neighborhood had enough people they couldn't arrest them all, not enough room in the jails or prisons. Also have a few that have signs that they are holding to have a small peaceful protest while we are all having fun an enjoying our herb. They of course would need a sober driver (even if you can drive when high) just in case. We can start here posting what city U r from and getting others to join and to go out and get friends n family to join in. Its just like the union workers concept, cant fire all the workers an if they all join in they (the workers) will get their way.

lets see, i got some questions on how to do this, looking objectively at the issue [not that i dont like it, i just find it impossible for now]

how to get so many stoners to "risk" their lives literally (criminal record/jail/beating)
how to get so many stoners at the same time and date to be out
just how to contact so many stoners in general, u know not every stoner is on this site lol

how to find someone to lead/sponsor this event, people just wont go out there by word of mouth, however if this is on a national radio or many local radios, there is some chance

and i suggest u go and read up on Chicago 8 their plan was in one location, over a much greater and much more supported cause and in a much more organized way... to no avail despite the justice finally prevailing after appeals process

u must know when u want to organize such a thing at a national level, u cant keep it a secret anymore and trust me, police n national guards will outnumber the stoners in any given location, sure they will not arrest everyone, but they wont most likely let us hold a "peaceful" protest either, at the very least im sure crowds will be dispersed by force in most locations if not anything worse

I don't know about that, but I do know that individually, we as members of this community could make a pact to run for local public office.
Let's do it.
This would be the most efficient and practical way to actually "do something".
With the wide varying political perspectives here, no matter what your party affiliation is, you would be able to with the input from everyone here, come up with a politically successful strategy, one would think.

I think putting a "smoker" in a position of power is the best thing to do. I see everything we do being used against us. People will get hurt and in trouble. And the lies about marijuana will continue. Im not even sure if there is an answer for the problem, humm wait until the stupid and misinformed die?

basically a park that for 1 weekend turns into a place where you can buy all kinds of hemp products along with concerts and legalization groups

yes getting enough people will be hard, but if you got somone to sponsor the event like a local club or find some local bands who could play, then get enough people to brg weed an smoke it or eat it.

Even the guard could arrest everyone there is not enough jails, and think who makes up the guard? the people of the city.

and texas is just one of those states, there are plenty of them that still have highly negative and paranoid (in some cases racist) views about marijuana

My point is: without proper education of non-smoking crowd thru normal ways like the media, such a move can very easily go awry, labeled as riots (guess what, the police needs to light up the violence and thats too easy for them, provoke the crowd, all it takes is one move or one shot or one arrest)

but if the average citizens is informed enough, they will not at least buy the stories made up by authorities then, even if they remain passive and dont back us up in any measurable way

a good idea indeed, there just is too many ifs n buts about it and requires a very well organization to carry it out, i frankly just dont find such a move feasible on a national scale yet

If I had enough weed to keep the joints burning I could get this going in my town in one afternoon. :D All i'd have to do is go down to waterfront and spark one up, people would just gravitate to me and the circle would have begun. I just dont have the ammounts of green it would require. :(

This reminds me of the old-school protests where people knew what they were up against and did it anyway. If you watch documentaries about the lunch counter protests, they met at churches beforehand and discussed the dogs, fire hoses, beatings, and incarcerations that were going to go down. Many people after being released from jail went back to the lunch counters. If this is really that important to our community we should be willing to stand up for our rights. How about everyone brings one joint, meet at your nearest public venue (courthouse lawns are good, at least in my state) Make it an easy date to remember... April 20th at 4:20 pm? I don't think anyone will really be expecting it if we just keep quiet, no big media, just word of mouth. Do you really think the police will just be patrolling the courthouse squares at 4:20 based on rumors they heard about April 20th? If everyone brings their own, and just a small amount, there is no distribution, and if there are too few people you could just go home. If there are several people you just all congregate, smoke your jays, then get out your signs and start marching, and if you see cops just eat your jay. I think the fastest police would arrive would be ten minutes, which should be long enough to smoke a pinner, don't pass them around (distribution) and what's the worst thing you could be charged with? Misdemeanor possession? Not worth the time and paperwork to book several people at once for it.

I would absolutely do this. Sure, we'd be beaten up and many jailed and all that, but as somebody here said, the blacks in the 1960s faced this and did it anyway, because they believed in their cause strongly enough. We need to overcome cowardice with this, I think.

What we need to do is repeat what went on at Norlin Quad on CU's campus, and Porter Meadow over at ucsc in Santa Cruz on 420 in 2008 but it needs to be bigger and more widespread. In Denver there was an estimated crowd of 10,000+ and there were no incidents or arrests. In Santa Cruz there was a crowd of 2000+ with no incidents.

Prove that thousands of us can unite peacefully with no violence and no injuries or incidents that can be used against us. You would never see this happen see this happen if alcohol was involved. Maybe with Mass. now decriminalized we will see this happen throughout the state in 2009. The American people have spoken yesterday in overwhelming numbers how they feel about the subject and this is not limited by state borders. We need this to spread like a wildfire on the east coast since the west coast has done most of the fighting and than the in between will follow.

We can't just have a handful of people in a park smoking because we will be arrested. There needs to be thousands to outnumber the police because they will fear even one arrest would spark a riot in such a crowd they would be forced to stand on the sidelines and watch. so lets make 2009 420 rallies bigger, better and more meaningful than ever. We have made some strong strides in the right direction over the last decade and our movement is getting stronger so start spreading the word and get out there

I would like to see every grower in the world handing out seeds to everyone they know, these could be used to blanket any green areas.
If enough people threw down enough seeds it would be popping up everywhere , imagine the manpower they would need to use to deal with a countrywide epidemic of cannabis plants.
