View Full Version : CFL - What temp lights for Autoflowering Lowryder #2?

I've seen a few LR2 CFL grow logs, but none of the mention their light temp's. Since this strain is autoflowering, would I skip my 6500K lights and just go with the 2700K lights?

The reason I ask, is because everyone says to keep them on 18/6 during the entire grow. My 18/6 is normally 6500K lighting... But I also know that flowering is best done with 2700K lighting. Hence, my confusion...

Still waiting on my seeds, so this isn't urgent...

Thanks.

If I were you, I'd try the first one with the 2700K flowering spectrum, and if I wasn't happy with the result then I'd try one with the 6500K & see if there's a difference.

Ok, the closest color temp I can find for flowering is 2500K (CFL), will this work?

hey you should try this if you can, and 2500k will work, 2700k-3100k is optimal though, but anyways try this if you can and will get the bulbs

Autoflowers vegetate for around 14-20 days and then they show sex and start to flower/vegetate, use the 6500k through those 14-20 days, once you start seein pistils(or balls if your seedmaking and or hash too) then switch to your flowering, which is your 2500k

If i COULD i would try to get 2 sockets, and put a 6500k and the 2500k bulb, because even tho they start to flower they are still growing more branches every here and there, so the 6500k will help in larger branches, and shorter/more internodes, meaning more budsites, and the 2500k bulb will make the larger buds of the 2, combination would be best, if you only can use 1 socket then do what i posted above this about switching after it starts to flower, plus its more lumens, depending on your sockets i would do a 2-1 ratio of 2500k-6500k lights, for every 2 2500k cfls you put in there put in a 6500k light, if you only put in 2, a 2500 and a 6500 is fine

StinkyBudz, Right now I've got 16 6500K bulbs and 18 2500K bulbs. They are all 100w equivalents, but they are actually 27w each. I've got room to run 16 at a time (8 sockets, 8 y's, 8x2=16 bulbs). Should be plenty of light... Now, if those darn seeds would just get here...

Thanks for the help! Hopefully it won't be much longer before I start this grow. I'm slowly getting everything together.

I am currently running 6 27w CFLs in the overhead fixture..... half are 2800K, the other half are 6500K on 18/6 for veg. The side lights are currently off as they are not needed *yet*.
When I switch to flowering, the overhead lights will all be 2800K and I will switch the side lights from 5000K to 2800 or 3000K depending on what I can get. In flowering everything will be on 12/12

Mississippi_Steve, I've read your grow log, so I already knew what your setup was  I'll continue to keep an eye on your thread. By the way, I think we live within hours of each other :pimp:. I'll get Yahoo Messenger and we'll chat sometime...

yea but since theyre autoflowering you could just go with a 20/4 light cycle through the whole process

chadsvb, Im also thinking about setting up a lowryder grow, but am unsure where to get seeds from. I have had friends who ordered seeds only to have them siezed by customs. If you could post and let me know you got the seeds and where from thatd be great.

just grow them under the 18/6 with your 6500k. this is a very easy plant to grow. i throw in a little 2700k on the side
