My buddy and I are starting to rent and trade vaporizers online. I that I would have killed to try a volcano AND vapezilla before I bought my piece of shit vapir-one. I'm having a hard time deciding on a weekly rental or monthly rental price. What do you all think? We'll be offering the super vapezilla, one knockoff, the volcano, the herbalaire, the vapebro's hands-free, and the sulver surfer.
All suggestions are welcome! and I also want to be a supporting vendor on here, how much does that cost me?

Hi Ghost, I will post a link to your thread in the mod lounge for the site owner's attention.
Be aware that you may run into complications shipping any item with residue on it, so making customers actually buy fresh bags and whips and NOT return them would probably be necessary.

A very unique idea, I'll give you that. I think it would definitely be difficult to retain the actual vaporizers. How will you make sure all of the irresponsible customers, especially in your case when smoking usually equals irresponsibile laziness, return your products? You'd have to rely on a credit and debit system so you can charge them in the event of a lost or stolen item. Which interfers with my next point:
In my opinion, if someone wants to rent a vaporizer for a month, in which you'd probably charge well over a hundred dollars, that person would be more likely to buy a vaporizer themselves. You'll be getting a lot of walk in customers that only want a day or so just to get blaaaazzzed with all their friends sometime, and those people will definitely want to deal in cash and little paperwork.
Not to mention all the paperwork you'd have to maintain. I'm not saying it won't catch on and make you bank.. hell, if you rent out vapos at 10 bucks a day, a sure-fire sale, you would have your money back in a few weeks. But it's not going to be as simple as you imagine.
EDIT: Okay, I just realized you meant starting an online business. I'm a little too high to compare in my mind whether or not my points are still valid, so I'll leave them up.

Sounds cool, there are some valid points though. You will indeed have to require CC payment. I don't like to vape myself though, I think it tastes and smells funny.

you know, if it is online, then there are ways in which he can get get his money out of if and have it be legit. I mean, look at blockbuster or netflix, they do it in a way. And stinky makes a very good point about using whips and bags that arent returnable. But most online purchases document your address, and some other personally identifying information, just so long as you clearly advertise the intent on your website as to what you are trying to accomplish, which is pretty much a trial/rental system for the vaporizers. And you can have it so that they rent with intent to buy and give them a better deal. And you could have a walk in store and have it happen too, you would just have more jurisdictional issues because you have city, county, state, and federal officers able to prosecute you, whereas a mail based company would really only have federal oversight.
Oh, and if your looking for suggestions of what types of vapes you would offer, i wonder how the v-tower extreme would work, it seems like a cool concept, and the vids for them look legit as well.

To consider price, you first have to calculate the cost of your overhead for each vaporizer, how many you have in stock. Plus the cost of the disposable pieces that you'll need to resupply, shipping costs, cost of the domain, depreciation of your assets, advertising etc. and then calculate how much it'll cost to break even when you account for all these factors. At this point you can figure out a level of profit you want to establish.
When you have customers rent out, they should provide their information and CC registered before you rent it out. Have an agreement that outlines they are responsible for all damages and they agree to have their credit card charged for the full amount of the vaporizer they don't return it, this way you safeguard yourself from lost purchases.
It's a great idea though!

Just like jimmy said, It IS going to be like blockbuster. They charge you an amount of the console you are renting and if it comes back broken or doesnt come back their credit card gets a huge bill.
Furthermore, terms of use and disclaimers will alleviate any legal issues with "a cretian residue" and plus, I'm a MJ advocate so I'm sure as shit not telling on anyone. I already got in contact with Formula 420 and they agreed to sell me small trial packs to include with rentals. Now if they dont properly clean it then Of COURSE I'll be charging their credit card an addition 20 dollar cleaning fee. That you guys for all the discussion! If you know people who want o be the first to rent, let me know and I can ovver discoounted rates, under the agreement that you'll write a full review and promote us.
I am to be that one magic guy who can allow you to try it befopre you purchase it, or rent it for a bday party or something. I was thinking $60 a week sounds like a fair rental fee, 100/ 1week, 175/ 1 month.
PLEASE PLEASE continue with suggestions!

So far we have 1 super vapezilla, 2 knock-offs, 2 silver surfers, 2 herbal aires, 1 volcano, and 2 vapor brothers hands-free I'm open to more suggestions
Once we get to 100% capacity then We will re-invest in more stock.
the biggest help for the cannabis community is that I want to buy people's used units and re-sell refurbished ones or de-comissioned rentals
