Texan jailed after 2 ate from 1 plate

The old two-for-one buffet trick backfired.

Dan Linscomb, 40, of Texas City, Texas, ate the buffet at the Iron Skillet restaurant in northwest Atlanta on Oct. 21. He admitted, an Atlanta police report said, that his girlfriend ??ate a couple bites from his plate.?

When he was charged for two $7 buffet meals, Linscomb refused to pay for one of them. He said that ??there were no signs in the restaurant that said someone could not have some food off your plate,? the report said.

The restaurant staff called police, who came to the restaurant on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and arrested Linscomb on a charge of theft of services. He was taken to Fulton County Jail.

Linscomb got out of jail two days later after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct, Fulton County sheriff??s Sgt. Nikita Hightower said.

Linscomb could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon. The Iron Skillet manager who was working when Linscomb was arrested, Jose Quintero, declined to comment.

perhaps this was a failed shot at pulling a cheappo move , but jail over $7!??!

i mean, how greedy could the restaurant be to call the police over $7, when he only says his gf had a couple of bites... this is bad business to me, when u get police show up and bust someone over $7 in front of all customers and have your news on national media (foxnews) this is just too bad of a reputation on the restaurant. technically speaking yes they had the right to do all this, but i would refuse to eat at a restaurant that couldnt show a lil compassion and was greedy enough to pull such a move, they better get similar type of people as themselves as their customers! there are plenty of people who approve of such a move, but not me n my kind!

sure i wouldn't trust him on what he says, but if i was the manager i would totally not get the police involved over this, in a year's income for a buffet, 7 dollars (the profit part of it) is not even seen, they probably have far more waste in material than that on a daily or at least weekly basis

thats one hell of a buffet tight with its doe!!!

And what I don't like about these kinds of cases is that its not a criminal offense, its a civli offense. He didn't hurt anybody,no violence. so the restaraunt owner should be pointed in the direction of small claims court. A total waste of taxpayers money on police and court costs. No one should ever be arrested for theft of services.

I feel so much safer that the Buffet Bandit is behind bars and not mooching off my boneless spare rib platter!
Is there such a thing as VERY small claims court? lol

Iron Skillet is a nationwide chain of restaurants that are normally with truck refueling stations. and they cater to truckers for there quick in and out buffet for the fast pace trucking industry.

and maybe she didn't have a just a few bites, maybe he had a plate, went back got 2nds, and she had one... and he just said a few bites, we are all told to not incriminate ourselves, are we not?

so its a silly situation with a silly outcome, who woulda guessed it.

all in all, this is NOT news.

all in all, this is NOT news.

The man has spoken, let there not be any more talk about the non-news issue.
