gonna start growing in a locker, so the plant won't be big.
Issue is i can only fit one, MAYBE two 23 W CFL's in there. Mind you that there will only be one plant in there at a time. The lockers are roughly 2 feet tall, but i will probably LST them or trim them to keep them smaller.
Is one 23 watt CFL good for one plant? Or should i try and fit more in. It will be possible for me to fit two, although it might take a little fidgeting XD.
thanks for your help

hi ya:jointsmile: im pretty new to tgrowing myself, just started last month using cfls. yes u can grow under small amount of light but will take ages and the yield will be crap if ne.
start of with at least 50w of light for few weeks as young plants dont need excessiv light. than once bigger u would need to add more around top and around sides, if this is not poss than maybe consider new grow space.
Try to hav at least 125w or more once flowering comes around.
light spec
vegg: 6000k
flower:2400K
hope this helps, good luk

i'd use an envioralight, there about 250 watts i think but dont get that hot u can get 2 bulbs 1 for veg and 1 for flower. u will still need air in and air out though. u probably need a bigger space than a locker. for food look up hypro its bang on .

Can you even buy 125w CFL's? I've only seen 125w as equivalent to incandescent bulbs

Check out 1000bulbs.com and look under standard CFL bulbs that will give you an idea of what's out there. If you only have room for two bulbs, I would definitely go for something bigger than 26 watt or you will be greatly disappointed with your final yield.
With only 2' vertical space, I would probably mount the sockets on opposite sides of the grow space rather than the top, one toward the front and one toward the rear of the cabinet, with the bulbs horizontal - that will maximize your available height.

Thanks for the idea, that is definitely something i will do
Now that i think about it that way, mounting lights on the sides, i can fit quite a few more CFL's in there.
3-4 26w CFL's will be good for one smaller plant?

I have 2 23w 6500K cfl with 1 42w 6500k cfl for the 2 little babies I got. 4 days old!!
Future lights in less than a month i'll put 1 42w 6500k cfl over each one and 2 23w 6500k cfl on the side of each one. Turning the plants 1/4 of a turn once a day.
so 6 lights = 176w = ~700w of power
also think of putting a mirror under the pots so the plants will sit on the mirror and light will reflect on it beneath the foliage? Big mirror.

That's 60watts, roughly 4000 lumens...probably good for a smaller plant
If you get more, or the plant starts to get bigger, DEFINITELY get a bigger light/more lights
a good bulb sight i have seen that has everything from string lights to CFL's to HID lamps Light bulbs, Rope Lights, Halogen and Fluorescent bulb - 1000-Bulbs - The Light Bulb Superstore (http://www.1000bulbs.com)
check it out if you need a bigger CFL (I think they sell ones that go all the way up to 200w for a single CFL! Although, they are like 70 bucks and over a foot long haha)
