I want to get a used truck similar to the Toyota Tacoma but older
just a small truck that would be powerful enough to help friends move
problem is I don't know a damn thing about trucks
I know a good amount about cars but nothing about trucks
Any suggestions? tips? anything?
Currently drive a Civic but I kind of want to trade it in :D
Thanks in advance!

You could always opt for the indestructible Toyota Hilux

Older Nissan or Toyota. They run forever (200k+ EASY) and everyone knows how to fix them.
Edit: It sounds like your FRIENDS should be buying you a used truck!

I can't remember what they were called before the 'Tacoma' model- why does 'SR4' stick in my head?
Go look in the Want Ads for used trucks and you will find the model name. Be aware that in high salt use regions the beds had a habit of rotting off, and if you can find one that has already had the welding done and a bed upgrade (around here, a pressure-treated wood flat bed is VERY common on late-80s Toys) you are already ahead. And obviously on a vehicle that old, judge the feel of the steering and front end whe you take it for a rip, and if it feels loose, plan to have work done or look for a different truck.

ok so apparently the Hi-lux turns into the 'pickup' which turns into the 'tacoma'

Hilux is among the few trucks and pickups that could perform in harsh terrain of Iran/Iraq border, mainly used by iranians and kurd rebels during the 8 year war!!!!
Last i know, it is still one of the official all-terrain vehicles of Iranian police and parts of military in deserts and mountains, so I can tell ya it works, its probably a cheaper version of landcruiser, they have been making this model for decades!!!
Toyota Hilux - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Hilux)
but these things differ by market so I'm not sure how the ones in America compare, they shouldn't be worse tho lol

Hilux Truck ... proven to be a hard working truck
i dont know if u have top gear in america but that jeremy clarkson was putting a old hilux truck through alot and it even got put ontop of a building befor it was demolished and with simple tools (they wasnt aloud to replace any part) the mechanic got the car running and driving again
so if you want a reliable truck the hilux would be a great choice

The youtube link in my first reply is clips of Jezza and Top Gear doing thier level best to kill a Hilux , they even tried to drown it in the sea. :D
BTW
Anyone who can recieve BBC2 should be aware that Jezza, The Hamster and Captain Slow return to our screens on Sunday Nov 2nd. The very Hilux they used is now part of the set, they have it mounted for posterity:thumbsup: :stoned:
