Heated the sample up to around 100 using my car heater on way to test center. Crotched the sample, which was contained in a 2 oz hand sanitizer bottle. I was wearing a pair of whitey tighteys, and to hold everything in place, a pair of compression jock shorts.
Once at the testing center, I had to wait approximately 45 minutes before being called back. I kept my legs crossed to try to keep the heat up.
Finally got called back, was handed the specimen cup, emptied my pockets, and proceeded in to the bathroom. The only thing in there was a stool, which the nurse had filled with dye, and a little shelf above the stool. The bathroom had a fan running which helped with any noise that occurred during the pour and putting the bottle away. Poured my sample in to the cup, peed in to the toliet, and put everything away.
As i was peeing, I noticed that the temp was only rising to around 96 on the temp strip on the cup. So I rubbed the strip with my thumb until it climbed up to 98. As soon as it hit 98, I walked out the door and handed it to the nurse.
She looked at the temp, put the lid on the sample, and said just stay here and we will get your results immediately. Well after about 2 minutes she said, ok, everything is great, I will call your employer and let them know.
I walked out of there as if a 100,000 pound weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I cannot thank this forum enough for giving me not only the information to pull this off, but the confidence.
For anyone who is stressing about a preemployment test, follow the substitution guidelines, and practice, practice, practice. If I can pull it off, anyone can. It would be hard to be more stressed and nervous than I was going in to this test. My whole future was riding on it, and thanks to the advice here I pulled it off.
