High all,
Pics up of the set up when its all here and installed on Mon, tues... Right now the flowering room has roughly 20 clones being kept good for a week under 4 23W 2700k CFLs, and 4 2ft T12 40Ws. New set-up is as follows:
VEG:
8-Jawdrop clones(HKxBI#4 CRAZY pheno..leans WAY BI)
1- HUGE Church going into flower soon (5gal)
1-Jawdrop bonsai mom
1-Church clone to be new mom
5-NCDG seedlings (hope for a mom and dad here)

FLOWER: (these area all SOG plants) just put in
5-HKxBI#2 clones (just for some extra yield, not enough clones of JD ready)
3-Smashberry#1
4-Jawdrop
2-Church
Last of Episode 4 coming out in a week tops:
3-Church, chopped today
3-HKxBI#1 (More HK pheno)

New set-up:
-MG organic mix
-FF nute line
1 and 5 gal pots
2 600W Hortilux Super HPS
2 cool tubes
2 Digital Greenhouse ballasts
424 CFM inline fan with carbon filter
1 9K portable AC
2x7 grow space
6-23W 2700K CFLs

One cooltube will have an open end about 8 in from AC vent. 2ft space of 6in duct and the other cool tube. From the other side of that, ducting with ONE bend up into the attic, where the fan will be mounted hanging on bungee cords with the filter on the exhaust. The 2 digital greenhouse balasts will also be mounted in the attic. The 3 twin bulb CFL set-ups will be mounted under the canopy on the walls for lighting to get to the bottoms of the plants and undersides as well.

That BI has just begun to get some buzz. IC keeps deleting threads on it since Plan B is not a registered vendor with them unfortunately. It will be great for the cannabis community as a whole to see this outstanding classic hash plant type hybrid grown out, and used for breeding.

WT there is only one seedbank I know of that sells BI and it is BC Bud Depot... I fear them.
Check cannasseur and see if you can find anything, or seedbay- thos 2 often have stock from lesser known breeders.

I grew out quite the handful o beans from a great friend, and found a winner! Mrs Jawdrop I have named her. 4of my buddies where over, and after 10min on a single doob, we were all watching revolver slack jawed as hell...lol

Church is a Greenhouse seeds strain, relatively new, and I lucked out and got a superb pheno outta those. There has been A LOT of germination problems with this strain, and GHS has stopped selling them ti they get it fixed. But DAMN, is it a good smoke. wait till you see the cutting from the plant in Episode 3 soon as I can post pics. Hmm, maybe SnS can post em for me....heh

NCDG is NorCal DaddysGirl. Which if I am correct, is a Cindy99 x G13-Haze. Glorious strain that I am sure you have heard of around these threads.:jointsmile:

Smashberry is a Purple Kush x Blueberry cross that I was not too impressed with, so I cloned out the mum and flowered her just for extra nug.

Next to talk about is because of my lighting issue, (see first post) had to change up whats going on. Had to move these teeny clones straight into flower, because I had to cut the bonsai...getting too big.

So the clones in the tray are all JD. The 5 styros are the NCDG. Pic of the JD bonsai. these NCDG and JDs will be in styro till almost rootbound. Then to 1 gal for a week, into flower they go. with a mum of the NCDG and HOPEFULLY a dad kept behind. Possiby going to 50gal tubs by then...dunno yet

And the tray of clones in the flower room are all going in this tub. Had to move em in bloom, so this is the way to go IMHO. The tub is a 10gal...plenty for these 15 lil clones. They will harvest with the big ass church. and in a monthish, the JDs and NCDG will be going in there to return the perpetual garden to monthly.

WH, or anyone else growing church....you feel the need to clear out some leaves inside because of light penetration? this thing is that damn bushy. Had to thin it out a lil.

Kinda excited, the present flower room (2x7) is now gonna be veg! Moved flowering into a 2 1/2 x 10!! Yipee!!! More juicy goodness comin! So I am adding another 600W cooltube w/ Hortilux super HPS. NOT including the 8 23W 2700k that will be below the canopy for lower nugs, I will be at 90W/sq ft!!!!! Fo sho...lookin to be pulling some serious weight outta here...

Mine is from the originals, not the mix. The mixed ones arent popped yet. This is all from the same cut of the solo seed that made it when no others would germ. She has the big ass leaves, lol.....Oh does she.
The smell....is VERY strong. Almost incense(y). Very clean, in the woods kinda smell. LEDs might have interfered with the terpene production, not many of what I gre under those smelled. But the Church...She is by far the reekiest(?) girl grown in here. Even in veg, she stank so nice:stoned:

Do you mean expensive initially? Because it seems the cost is all initial investment which would breakdown pretty cheaply over several grows.. compared to buying bag after bag of quality soil (FFoF).

I just like the idea of having a completely reusable medium instead of having to find ways to throw away dirt. That and it's easier to flush out 1 resevoir and mix up nutrient solution than it is to constantly have to drag plants to and from the bathroom.

At least that's my reason for wanting to take a dip into the darkside. :thumbsup:

I agree both ways...The initial investment sucks but after that it's all nutes...Gotta spend the money on nutes for soil or coco anyways...

The more you watch your stuff the better it'll come out agreed, but in my first attempt at hydro We ran a ebb n flow table with no ph pen (just the drops) completely blind on the PPM's or E.C., due to not having a pen, and got far better results than I thought I would, for not having the right equip. and poor conditions in the room...

Cleaned out the res once a week gave new nutes and topped off once or twice a week with PH'd water and checked Ph every 1-3 days with no I'll effects no root rot or no obvious deficiencies...

I don't now if it was the nutes cuz We just ran a clear plastic tote w/ 6" net pots just sitting in it, and a 18 Gal rubbermaid res w/ a submers. pump, no air stones at all either. Some of the densest and sweetest tasting buds I've smoked in years..No taste of leftover nutes...I couldn't believe bud like that came outta my computer room...lol..

.But I'm giving a lot of credit to the nutes cuz just went into the whole grow blind... Can't wait to get it on and poppin again...I see big things for the future of my newly remodeled and still under construction grow space...Damn Somebody shut me up...can't stop typing...if yall were here right now I'd be " blah blah blah blah"...can't shut me up sometimes...sorry

p.s. like Dai I like the fact of re-using the medium. No soil to buy for the next grow...If you think about it the plant gets no nutritional value from the soil alone, the soil just act's as a reservoir to hold the nute solution...I say cut out the middle man so the roots can use both Oxygen and H2o quicker and more efficiently...DAMN there I go again...

FFoF is about 22 bucks here in Texas where I live. Hydro nutes and soil nutes seem very comparable in price; I was using sweet but switched to canna's version called "boost", Rhizotonic I use to get the plants going and cannazym I only use on an as need basis and I'd imagine that to be true with hydro also.

Really it seems that it would be about the same price along nutrient lines and cheaper if you consider the non recurring cost of having to buy a medium.

It's probably something I'd have to experience doing a hydro grow to understand what you mean.

Luckily I'm a stickler for recording what all my costs are. I even have a breakdown of my KWH usage for my equipment in addition for Estimated KWH for my central A/C in relation to the additional room I have to cool. I will be doing a Hydro grow very soon and will have a side by side cost comparison.

I'm sure you're right; it's more expensive, but all in all I can't imagine it costing anymore along the nutrient lines when compared to soil. Many of the things you use in hydro you use in soil also (ph down/up, nutrient line, cannazym for root health and rhizotonic for root stimulation, sweet/molasses/boost for extra carbs and if you want a final flush type product even), I'm sure I'll figure it out soon but I'm so enticed by the dark side even if it costs a little more I won't mind.

The benefits seem to outweigh the cons; at least for my purposes.

First 2 pics are of the sexy church that was a one time mom...Need to name her, she is gonna be one of my biggest yielders in a while. VERY strong big thick branches, good 8 strong tops, 6-7 more decent side branches. Im not pruning any branches off her, might have to clean out some leaf material though, or just LST her. But theres not much light getting towards the bottom. HA!!!! soon that wont be an issue....(:vader1:haaar-pssshh...haaaar-pssssssh)

Last 3 pics are of the one clone I took from the Jawdrop bonsai mom when I started shaping her 8 weeks ago....MMMM....such an amazingly tasty, frosty, juicy nug there...

CO2 will be going in in a month, with the next batch of clones. Waiting to put the 3rd 600 in till then as well. As it stands, 2 of the cooltube 600W HPS Hortilux will be going in now. along with the carbon filter, and can fan. 2 inline fans for the lights, which will be vented intake and exhaust out of the room. The big church plant and the small bed will each have their very own 600 till next month.
Not doing the CO2 boost buckets either.Getting bonified CO2 tank and regualator.
Also, when the clones, light, and CO2 go in in a few weeks, the 4 2 bulb cfls (23W 2700K) will be added about 18in of the ground around the room.
With the portable AC in there, there will be 2x81/2ft grow space. which will be lit by 3 600W, and the 8 CFLs....goooood times!!!!

flowering time on the :jawdropper: is about 55 days to get 20% amber. Right where I like it. Any more would be too devastating. I took a few more off the bonsai today, giving me a total of 20 :jawdropper: clones. In 3 weeks, they ALL go to flowering. One will be selfed for preservation of the original :jawdropper: And 2-3 are designated for breeding. I have the NCDG in mind, as well as the Bubblegum I just germed. I want the flavor of the BG, so I may cross it, then BX back to :jawdropper:....who knows, breeding is the fun part for me:greenthumb:

New veg light gets in today. Got the 6 bulb 4ft T5 super reflector mo fo from htg. Be putting that in when it gets here in a few. The SNLxNH beans I started germing already have their taproots out, so they will be going in cubes today as well.
So that will be 8-10 SNLxNH seedlings( so far...havent culled weirdos yet, hopefully this batch is fine), 5 Jawdrop clones already vegging, and 5 NCDG goin along. Hopefully in about 3 weeks, I can move the NCDG and JD into the fower room...want bigger plants, so we will have to see.

D4...The Church is an anomaly....lol LOTS of people couldnt get their Churchs to germ. I was gifted 3. And one did! Thats the big girl harvested in Episode 3. There have been 4 clones already harvested from her, and the big ass bush is a clone off theoriginal clone, and the new church mom is a clone from this plant.

I have yet to see this happen.......a clone grown the same amount of time as something from seed and giving off an equal yield. That's the main reason we stopped cloning and went back to seeds.....time and yield.

For those that are concerned, Here is a small chronicle of the SINGLE Church I had germ. First pic is the original seed plant before cuttings. Next few are the cuttings at different stages. On pic is the beginning of me forming this plant to grow as such.

so we got the T5s for the veg room, initial setup was rather easy. added some 4" a/c ducting out of the ceiling down to the lights to cool everything down and everything was working great.....

1 day later we get a cold front, no higher than 74 for at least a week. so the a/c isnt going to turn on:wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf:

get a 4 pack of CFL's.... get a 2'x2'x2' cardboard box... mount CFL's to a power strip and suspend from the top of the box. Water as needed and let sit in there for 1-2 weeks.

You'll get true leaves without having to worry about heat. Oh yeah.. add a small exhaust of some sort in there.

And even the rooted seedlings AND cones are all wobbly and not firm in their pots.

Yeah bro I say FUCK RW too, I used it in my previous grows and have seen the light as you have...I've used Oasis cubes for clones and love em' haven't used them in the past for beans though but, I just dropped some more SNLxNH into the Oasis cubes yesterday to germ. so I'll let ya know how that goes...I haven't tried the RR's I opted for the Oasis instead...Hope this helps any, it's all experimental IMHO....

AC turned off cause it got down to 63 at night. So when I got up, the veg room with the ladies was 96deg!!!! ICK....oh well....Got me last 10 germing now.
Im fine ordering online...ALL those goodies in Area 51 where ordered online. But I needed them NOW...gotta transplant, cut, and plant germed seeds today.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOo....ended up getting jiffy pellets. The ones that are flat, wet em and they swell. I WILL be ordering some RR soon. But I think these jiffy pellets will do this time. Any thoughts or experiences?

I used jiffy pellets in my last soil/coco grow....they worked ok for me, goin' dirty.....just remember to take of the net before the roots get to growing thru them too much....I forgot to remove some of the nets on some of them too, but I had no problems with them either...I know some people that don't remove the nets also, so it's your move bro...GL

I don't have problems in soil but in hydro my stuff will wiggle, even in the higromite rocks. Secure it from both sides or you may come in one day and find it toppled over or leaning far enough to pull the roots out and ruin the plant.

Yeah, some of the lst I do is literally to keep the plant upright. Seems more of an issue in the new netpots vs the old waterfarm buckets but no need to get started on that discussion. But it IS something I have an issue with....especially the bigger the plant.

Noticed it 4-5 days ago, not split through, but I pulled it back against the meain stem with a twisty, and the branch seems to still be growing, am I ok?

I like to make a splint for it but it should be fine if you took care of it almost right after it happened. I've broken many a stem and they typically make it through. I even mended one that broke off completely before.

Thats what I did...used twisties, its near the base of the gargantuan stalk, lol....SO maybe the branch will stay? Wont lose it?..........yipeeeeeeeeee

If it's "non fixable" you'll know pretty quick because it will wilt just as if you pulled a plant out of the ground. Most times if you can support it you're gold but once in awhile if you break it in a bad spot you'll lose it. But again.....you'll know right away.

FYI,

Back in the day, growers used to purposly split the stem with a knife 3 or 4 days before harvest.
Some would poke a nail through the stem just above the root.
Claimed it would increase potency.
Dunno if that's true.
Do know that Mj is tough.

HAD to take a pic to hope you guys can see what I mean on how LUSH and FULL the Church is, every day I pull at least 10 leaves, but they are yellow and falling from not getting might. Even as open as I have this thing. And look at how the minor LST on the big branches is creating so much laterals. Sorry to spew, havent seen too many strains grow like this. The pic I took of the stalk is to show the split. About 4 in from the bottom where the FIM is, the right branch was split. Looks pretty healed to me, I think it will be just fine.
And lasty, Look at the amount of TOPS this thing has. Not just branches, but TOPS! Im happy........can ya tell?.....lol

Thanks rock!!!( Repped ya my email) I love to experiment, and since Im done with the LEDs, Im trying the bonsai stuff, wanna eventually get real bonsai ish , more wood, less vegatative matter and roots. I mean like a twisty branch all perdy in a shallow 4in across, 2in deep dish. Barley any root.
Trying now to see if the SOG 10gal tubs will give more weight per sq/m than a huge bush in a 5 gal taking up space. Maybe 6 10gal tubs with 16 12in clones per tub will do much more weight than 6 big ass bushs in 5 gal pots......wee soon shall see....

hmmm, interesting concept.
i'm no expert on this board, but, my 2 cents...

reducing root mass in theory might be ok, as long as the roots you do have are able to get the volume of nutrients the plant needs.

but, i just dont see how a miniature plant could possibly have any real substantial yield. there just couldnt be the multitudes of bud sites that a standard bushy plant would produce.
but, on the other hand, if your goal is to just create a unique houseplant, of a variety you have a particular affection for, that might work.

one other thought. u may stress the hell outta it and it hermie, if so, watch out for your girls.

Exactly! Yield is of no concern unless I decide to flower it one day...Im sure I will after 100 cuttings or so, swap moms, dunno....just gonna keep playing with it now, it is putting out some gorgeous cuts!!!

Moses is about 3 weeks into flower, and has WELL over 100 bud sites already...Gonna pull A LOT off her Im sure, but she looks like she will take HOURS to take down. Weedy, do you think its normal that a lot of the huge fan leaves are yellowing and falling off this early? Is it just because the plant is so damn bushy? It super healthy, not slowing at all....just losing alot of the big leaves lil earlier than I thought.

WT, thats more yellowing than I like to see that early......what's her ph runoff and what kind of nutes are you using?

I am seriously crappy at soil root issues myself.....my answer to everything is to put it in a bigger pot so not sure how much help I can offer.

I do notice with my soil stuff that the longer they stay in the same pot the more I start to have ph issues. And once they start getting crappy ph runoff (with me that is) I can't really get rid of the problem without a ton and a half of work.....sometimes seems like more work than hydro when I get a pissy soil plant. I've had a few do that to me and it always seems like a ph thing imo......

Weedy, just transplanted her from 3 to 5 gal at flowering 3 weeks ago. Zero signs of nute burn or anything. They just yellow like harvest time, no browning, all the other leaves are perfect green, no curl or yellow tips......Im flabbergasted. Yes, I said it....flabbergasted. Is there a chance that as big as she is getting Im not giving her enough nutes? She is pulling the sugar from the leaves to send to the buds? I dunno....truely

Can happen when ya switch to bloom nutes, (low N.)
May be a li'l early because of her size, but if she looks otherwise healthy, Relax.

This is the MAN. There are MANY plans for this guy. Meet Reaper(jee....wonder who he is named after!! ;) )this is the male outta 3 that I decided to keep for breeding from the NCDG beans. I got a NCDG girl in mind to do a F3 (I think, IR, Stinks...correct me please). Also many other crosses. I got joey weeds moon shadow. Its a chemo C99 hybrid that may go nice with the NCDG. Got a few buddies lookin for pollen too, so Ima hook them up. I am throwing this guy into flower tonight. Thats right. He has been in 24/0 the ENTIRE time, and look at those flowers open!!!!!

and, i tried puttin a lil root hormone in the hole in the media when i cut em.
didnt respond well at all. first, and last, time i'll do that.:wtf:

WT, those clones you lost, are those the ones that went into the jiffy pellets...Maybe they are not to good for cuttings, as I've never heard of anyone using them for cloning, Sux that you couldn't get the RR's you were looking for...I've tried the jiffy pellets before but only from seed, put them into some coco on my last grow. they did ok that way...

That's awesome. I'll be harvesting soon as well. Probably around December 22nd. Looks like it's a xmas harvest for us both. Going to switch my clones over to 12/12 starting Monday since they've been vegging about a week.
