I got one question for all of those who keep bashing the media for being so liberal:

Why the heck has not this media taken 1 effective step towards decriminalization or legalization of marijuana (or even major coverage of such steps by 3rd parties), which is perhaps viewed by most rightist hardliners as the symbol of liberalism, if they are as liberal as portrayed?

When I hear the word liberal media, I wonder for a second if there is no conservative radio shows like Limbaugh's, there is no foxnews and there are no conservative leaning newspapers, national or local, not to mention bunch of these shows hosted by this very same liberal media representing the non-liberal povs.

The day I see the same support for national decriminalization or legalization of marijuana, as we see for Obama in the media now, I will submit to the notion that media is liberal.

Yeah funny ain't it. I hear that all the time too. But the media is more conservative than liberal. If you took all the media head liners and added them up there is more conservatives than liberals.

I find it funny that anyone believes that something so vast as the media could be controlled by a single political party, they are a for profit business and the best way to make profit is entertainment and sensationalism, it just so happens that most of that entertainment is at the expense of the right wingers, why? because they just say the darndest things.

same thing with those pundit shows like olberman, oreillly, hannity and such; they appeal to emotions not reason, counting on people being to lazy to factcheck anything they say

Sure the media is "Liberal" - Rush Limbaugh says so ;-) No one who isn't fully indoctrinated can listen to Rush without vomiting, but to those who can anything not owned by Rupert Murdoch is considered a commie rag. The media is "Liberal" to people who see nothing ironic, absurd, or offensive about Fox calling itself "Fair and Balanced".

This is one of the basic rules out of the Republican playbook and has been for years - whip up the base and coral them, creating Us-and-Them divisions, convince the base that everyone is lying except for these few bastions of true conservative speech. Convince the base that no one else has a clue - 'cause everyone else is brainwashed by all the other voices that aren't theirs. It helps keep the lemmings in line - they won't stray and start thinking for themselves that way. As you know, it usually works out pretty good for them.
