Growing Small Plant / For Personal Use

I'm new to this, but I'm looking to grow just one plant, enough for the occasional smoker and his friends. I could probably grow it inside or outside, any tips? I would rather not have to fork out for any expensive kit :)

Wait until spring and plan an outdoor grow.
Do you have a space to grow indoors? A smoker and friends need more than what a small grow chamber will produce, especially if you are not keeping a mother plant, and one plant is likely to be male (~50% chance), so I'd never grow fewer than 4 unsexed from-seed plants.

The effort for just one plant really isnt worth it...and you must not use dirt from your yard, too many lil bugs inside your grow room...if you buy a bag of soil and ferts, most of it wolud go unused.
