This is my first grow and its WW. I have it in a grow box which is 2ftx14inx3ft with 3 cflâ??s(the energy saver brand) and a 250w halogen work lamp its pretty diesel and gives some good heat for the plants. Its 3 days into my grow and have three solid sprouts about 2 inches tall each (not stretching:D) and they are growing really fast. I have some questions that Im having a little trouble finding the answer to. I have some pics of them.
My first question is does the soil and sprouts have to be constantly moist? Iâ??ve been keeping it moist for the most part like whenever I see the top soil surface get dry I have a spray bottle and giveâ??em a little spritz. The soil underneath is somewhat moist. I am using a miracle grow soil.
My next question is a series of questions sort of. Is my box to small for three plants and how big does WW usually get girth and height. I know I can train it to stay small by restricting pot size and by LST. Am I some what on the right path to a good grow?
The first two pics are the same plant. The third pic is my biggest plant leaves are a little bigger than the others

I've read others say that miracle grow for seedlings are bad
halogen isn't that great, will cause stretching in the long run (I've read) but if you live in a colder climate, I suppose it would be a nice supplement :)
Noobs at growing tend to over water
I've only grown soil once so I'm not sure but I left my plant for a duration of 3 weeks with no watering except one huge soaking the day I left and when i came back it was a little wilty but as soon as I watered it, it perked up the very next day
so I would go light on the watering, overwatering will result in plants that droop
hope this helps!

The soil and sprouts should not be constantly moist. I use a $12 meter from lowes that tells me what the water level is at the bottom of the pot. (Wet, Dry, Moist). Water until the meter says moist and the excess stuff comes out the bottom. Let them sit until the meter is on dry or a low moist, and than I water again.
Do not over water because that is the biggest common noob mistake and will kill your plants (I learned the hard way). Always use room temperature water (distilled works good). I like to spray the top of the soil with a spray bottle and also spray the leaves. I do this maybe once a day.
White widow can grow pretty tall and that probably wont be enough space for 3 plants. Be careful because they could get contaminated being that close together from a male plant.
You are on the right path b ut make sure to not over water!
Good luck ;)
PS "I've read others say that miracle grow for seedlings are bad". I used Miracle Grow Moisture Control and my plants are doing just fine. I just used a different soil when I transplanted.

i would go straight 12/12 from seed... also keep the cfls about 1 1/2 inches above your plant and you get some dense buds

I usually water twice a day cause I put the halogen on for about 8 hours a day for some strong light and more warm.th Im kind trying to replicate the sun and the high point of the day thought it was a worth a shot. It kind of dries the top soil on the plants pretty fast. I leave the CFL's on 24 hrs i think im gonna do this for this week and the next (lowered light to 2 inches away from plants). then cut it down to 18/6 for 3 weeks. I know if i flower them early too i can control the size of them. I knew WW could get pretty big I just thought by flowering a little early and pot size would control it. Thanks for everyones advice if you have any other advice on anyother subjects where i might go wrong it would be appreciated. Right now i have a pretty basic setup lights, pots, and a box everything was found around the house. If i have to spend some extra money Im down for it so throw the advice at me.
Thanks again for advice all

Sorry... Your plants are stretching a little. 3 days from sprout, they shouldn't be any taller than about an inch...And, that halogen lamp is pretty much worthless for growing... They give off way too much heat, and the light spectrum they emit doesn't do much for compact growth. It will cause your stems to stretch like a mofo.
If you cannot afford a real HID grow light such as a metal halide or HPS, you should think about building some kind of multi-bulb CFL fixture... You can get the parts from Home Depot, and you'll spend less than $50 to do it, bulbs included. There are "Daylight" spectrum CFL bulbs that replicate the sun's rays... They work GREAT!
They'll help you keep your temps in the mid to high 70's, and your plants should thrive in those conditions.
Be sure to provide some fresh air intake, some exhaust to remove hot stale air, and some small oscillating fans to give good air circulation.
Be careful with the Miracle Gro soil... Those little plant food balls will create hot spots and can give your babies nute burn.
As far as watering goes, if your soil drains adequately, you should just give them a good deep watering every 2 or 3 days, making sure to pour the excess water out of the runoff dish. Let the soil dry out real good between waterings. Doing it this way will ensure the roots receive adequate oxygen.
Think about how it works in nature... It rains, then it dries out for a few days, then it rains again, etc... Try to replicate nature as closely as possible.
That's the best advice I can give you.
One of the last plants I grew was a WW... I vegged it for about 2 weeks & then switched to 12/12... It was about 4 inches tall & on its 4th set of leaves...
By the time it was finished, it was almost 2 feet tall of solid bud.

thanks for the info dooobster really good info. I have a friend at a greenery it said it would provide some decent light not that great but it would give it warmth. When i fell the CFLs its like no warmth at all. I went back and measured them this time its just an inch an a half. I eyeballed them before. I have hanging light i just moved it so it was out of my way so i could get into the box I think im gonna get another one it s working pretty good. I have a shit load of light bulbs around my house for some reason its like we bought home depot out of lights. Hopefully i can get the same results as your plant:jointsmile:

I'm doing it like this.
24/0. I just started 20/4. in 2 weeks I'll go to 18/6 and when they're a foot tall, 24 hours of dark and 12/12 for 4-8 weeks or whatever it is ^^ Back to researching lol.
Good luck, again!
