Anti-drug group joins fight against medical marijuana

By Dawson Bell ? Free Press Staff Writer ? October 14, 2008

LANSING ?? A team of top national anti-drug officials joined the late-starting campaign to defeat Michigan??s medical marijuana initiative this morning, telling reporters Proposal 1 is a dangerous drug legalization scheme being pushed by outsiders that will lead to higher rates of addiction and despair.

John Walters, a Michigan native who heads the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, said marijuana has no legitimate medical use.

Medical marijuana laws simply ??make it easier for addicts to stay addicted,? he said.

Walters is in the state through Wednesday, traveling to events with representatives of the anti-Proposal 1 campaign from law enforcement and medical organizations in an effort to make the case that approving medical marijuana will make it almost impossible to control cultivation, distribution and sales of the drug.

Appeals Court Judge Bill Schuette, co-chairman of Citizens Protecting Michigan??s Kids, said Proposal 1 is a ??risky scheme? that could lead to the proliferation of marijuana dispensaries as it has in California.

Backers of the proposal argue that legalizing marijuana possession and use for controlling pain among those with serious illness and under the supervision of a physician is compassionate. Michigan??s proposed law, placed on the ballot by a petition drive that was funded by a national pro-legalization group, is unlike the California law and does not authorize marijuana dispensaries, according to the group Michigan Coalition for Compassionate Care.

u know what? this is truly an unfair war, they have all the classic tools to beat us left n right... i guess we should start thinking about resorting to guerrilla style and unconventional methods to hit back... that seems the only available option in face of a very powerful and very organized effort against us

what is this?
the highest anti-drug position in the nation + LE + meds + judicial people team up to defeat a compassionate state law proposal that has been approved and introduced through a citizens' petition??? wtf? then dont tell me this is the will of people in control, this is no different than dictatorship, its just that they cant just shut it up without going thru the proper procedure... but they got all the tools and people and money to invoke fear among the ignorant and out of the know folks!

i mean just look @ the situation in iraq, thats one good example to learn from, no militia or army for that matter can conventionally withstand ours, but buncha smart asses with some nasty methods have been able to hurt us in a considerable manner relative to their abilities!

or that guy who caught the hater police officer redhanded with his makeshift recording camera on his car seat... u know what im saying? no cop would expect such a thing recording their illegal actions or remarks.. and he got quite embarrassed at a national level, international anyone?

I strongly believe same can be done with this issue... maybe some ballzy people gotta bug ONDCP and their related lcoations/vehicles to see what they really talk about... we need to expose whats behind the curtain, cuz we all know and they know, the crap being said publicly is just BS... they must talk about some other stuff as well, like money and thousands of related jobs @ risk, etc

maybe the same can be applied in a civil manner to these drug-war mongers as well by us, the people who do not like what they are trying to force us to do!! I say people need to get organized and take to the streets in a peaceful manner chanting the truth repeatedly and gathering momentum... at worse its called civil disobedience! but it must not turn violent or into a typical riot!

I really wish this thing goes thru and we get another victory in face of this damn machine! and i seriously give a lot of positive energy to the 2 house bills due out of committees sometime next year

I for one really cannot stand this kind of thinking anymore and I have only faced it for a few years unlike some of u who have dealt with it for decades

This is BS and BS does not work in this modern time...

it will be funny to see fellow state residents of head of ONDCP approve of this measure and defy his stupid and idiotic stance! i will toke and laugh devilishly inside!:D
