Well there you go...the much awaited sequel will be split into 3 games....each one focusing on each race...Each one as a stand alone title...not really an expansion. That means that while Starcraft originally had 30 missions, around 10 for each race, each individual game will have 30 missions for each race.

The first game to come out will be the Terran one...called wings of liberty. Then zerg, and finally protoss. Though the first game will only focus on Terran campaign...the new and improved battle.net will still allow all 3 races to be played.

The reason behind this decision has been described: The creators felt as though they would not be able to tell the story and put all the features they want into one game. Also, the first starcraft game will be released in 2009, (blizzard stated that in order to release all 3 campaigns it would easily take another few years)

The one bad thing that most fans are complaining against is that Blizzard is getting greedy, releasing 3 starcraft 2 titles will garner in a large amount of revenue...personally I think that if these 3 games were released within a 3-4 year period it's not such a big deal. I kind of understand their decision, they want to explore the universe that much more...and man they made some radical changes like making it way more story orientated...they showed a lot of new things at Blizzcon which took place last Friday and Saturday.

So what are your guys opinions on this move by Blizzard? Personally I trust Blizzard, I think they know what they're doing.

I'm still looking forward to it. I built my current system about 2-3 months ago in anticipation of Starcraft II.

It doesn't change my mind about buying it. Blizzard puts a LOT of work into their games; always worth it in my opinion. I loved WC3 and have been waiting for SCII since SC was originally released 10 years ago or so :hippy:

That's awesome, I can't wait for starcraft 3. Starcraft is the only rts that I can stand to play, and in my opinion it's the best of them all. Im curious how the multiplayer is going to work before the other two games are made. Is the terran one going to have protoss and zerg in the multiplayer?

Yea they obviously are going to...otherwise there'd be an organized revolt against blizzard.

Though there is going to be a learning curve for protoss and zerg, so it'd be interesting to see how blizzard handles that problem. Maybe they'll stick a tutorial for both races in the first game.

that doesn't make them greedy. they are a business. what's the underlying theme of being a business....?? Making money. But either way, releasing expansions keeps people interested. What's the point of even playing wow once you get to the highest level, defeat the end game content, and have all the best stuff? There's nothing left to do so people would quit playing.

Sorry, just had to throw that out there. Avid wow player here.
