View Full Version : HELP! problems with 1 wk old babies!

I recently got 6 kush clones from a clinic. They all were growing well but now they have started to get yellow on the edges. The center of the leaves is still mostly green and the veins are green. They growth doesnt seem to be stunted but i am worried because the yellowing is moving up the plant. I have a 400 watt hps and i use general hydroponics nutes. I think it might be a mg or zinc problem but it doesnt look to me like nute burn. please help!

Iron deficiency?

Treated by lowering soil pH to 6.5 or less. Avoid fertilizers that contain excessive amounts of manganese, zinc, and copper, which inhibit iron uptake. High levels of phosphorus compete with the uptake of iron.

Improve drainage.

note: exposing light to nutrient solution with UV light causes iron to precipitate.

I'm going with excessive salts in soil.
Flush and feed at correct pH with a complete fert with micros.
Check source water for excess sodium.
That doesn't look like simple iron def to me.

ok so i flushed them at a ph 6.5 and it has been a couple days now i still havent noticed any improvement and more leaf tips are dying and yellowing. Is it possible that my tap water is simply to salty? should i buy pure distilled water?

Generally, leaves that are damaged don't repair themselves. What you need to look at is the new growth. Is that healthy?

Also...

What type of soil is that?
How are you mixing your nutes?
What's your watering schedule and how often are you feeding?

i cant remember the name of the soil but it is just some 0-0-0 potting soil. I use GH nutes at about half strength. and i water whenever the pots are light. New growth was coming in nicely, but as soon as the leaves reach a reasonable size the tips die.

GH nutes are hydroponic. Gotta get a runoff pH number- they will probably show buffering around pH 6.0, whcih is SERIOUSLY low for soil.

that looks like a textbook case of ZINC deficiency (see: Revised: The Complete Guide To Sick Plants,pH and Pest Troubles - PlanetGanja.com (http://www.planetganja.com/highsociety/showthread.php?t=8778) ) ... first time I've ever seen it happen, except in plant problem articles :wtf: ... also, looks like they may be a bit dry, as in high temps ? ...

true but i think the others are right when they say it is due to wrong ph level. Im going to test my runoff next time i water and let you guys know what it is

ok so i watered the babies with ph 6.5-6.8 ish (using liquid test kit) And i collected the runoff to measure that. The runoff was really dark almost black so i let is sit out thinking it was floating particles. An hour later it was still black so i took a reading and though it was hard to tell im pretty sure it was reading too high somewhere in the 7s.

yea I have a similar problem when I use liquid karma in my DWC, it coats my pH test strips with a layer of black o__o

so i finally got a clean ph reading and the runoff was wayyyyyy to high on the chart looks like 7.5-8.0. The water i put in was ph 6.5 so im going to lower it to 6.0 and then see what the runoff is then. Is 6.0 to low to start or should it be good? The plants are growing but there isnt any fan leaves except for at the top. Will the lower ph make the plants start to mature better. Im going on my 4th week in veg and they look like they are 2 weeks old.
