I lost my last set of clones due to user error, so I decided to take a couple clippings from plants already in 12/12. The crop was about a few weeks into flower, trics were already starting, but my friend and I had no good source for clones at the time. So we picked 2 side shoots that had nice healthy leaves, but didnt have big buds forming. We clipped the bud growth of them, gave the plants a few days to heal from that, then took clippings. One of the clones is slowly struggling along, its been taking a long time to get its roots nice, i think im gonna plant it real soon anyway.
The other one is doing some real interesting things. I put it in dirt a week ago, and its currently doing 50/50 time in the humidity dome and that all seems to be doing good, ok back to the interesting stuff.
Its been about a week since it went into dirt, since then its grown up to about 6" or so tall, from maybe 2-3" clipping. It has FIVE growth shoots already, and 2 more starting. None of those shoots are coming from where we clipped the top originally either, theyre all from nodes that didnt exist or were not visible beforehand.
The other weird thing that I just recently noticed is that its a 3 leafer. All the new growth are 3 points. I couldnt tell because they were too small up until a day ago, but now im sure of it. In the pic, that 5 point you see at the bottom was from the original clipping, its not new growth.
Is that bad or doesnt it matter?

8" tall today and 8 solid growth shoots. This has mother plant written all over it, except for the 3 leaf thing. I tied her over toda so the lower shoots get more light. I think im gonna power on another bulb tonight too.

You should be fine, the plant looks healthy. Good luck =]

I read somewhere that you shouldn't cut the buds off from a clone, they will consume the buds and turn it into food/energy, might try that next time.

shes wanting water every other day now. I think we'll move to a 6" pot tonight.
11 growth shoots
I dont know if anybody look at these threads or not, but lemme throw this out there in case.. Even tho shes still young, I want to start taking clippings from her soon. The tallest stalks have 8-10 nodes already, even tho theyre only 4" tall, and a few of them are splitting already. So I dont think I even have a stalk thats long enough to take a clipping from, they just keep growing more and more stalks before they get tall enough.
Right now theyre in a ~1 foot box with 3 cfl's at 5500k. Im thinking about taking out one of those bulbs in hopes she'll stretch a little, but ive also thought about switching 1 or 2 of the bulbs to 2700k instead. That might make it grow taller too. Any thoughts?

I checked out the root formation today, theyre hitting the edge of the cup a little, but not enough for a transplant yet. Tied down a few shoots yesterday too. Im letting 1 or 2 shoots grow tall so I can clip them and try out my bubble cloner.

there fine why would you want to stretch them though?
closer internodes means more clones in the same space

nice micro u got there. Before i start let me say i am not an expert, hell im not even good, but it seems to me that your box might be better served with a pot that is very short and wide to give u more vertical room u could get pretty close to the bottom if your passive intake holes were on the bottom underneath the plant.just wanted to put my 2 cents in...count on it not being worth much more than that :) u haven't mentioned what you r going to use for flowering? u got me wondering now...

this box was a nursery for baby plants, but im thinking of keeping this one as a bonsai mom, in this box. my veg box is a mini fridge with 2.5x the footprint and 3x as many cfl's. Flower box is a big cabinet with a 400 hps.

nothing seems wrong, id go with a bigger container. your space constraints and going to be problematic... good water and a bit more fresh soil with nutrients already there.. get a better space...'
i dont know what the deal is with 3 leafers but im randomly guessing that a plant like that will give u only problems.
