Partisan Keith Olbermann argues that if Obama is attacked for his connections to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Weatherman William Ayers, then the corrupt connections of John McCain, including bonified racists, fascists and eugenicists, also deserve to come under fire.

Olbermann names the U.S. Council for World Freedom and a number of controversial fellow board members connected to McCain.

One such board member is Dr. Anthony Bouscaren, of the Pioneer Fund, which Olbermann calls a â??eugenics group researching white superiority.â??

He also names Jay Parker, a â??registered foreign agent for the apartheid government in South Africa,â?? and more.

On Tuesday, an Associated Press article featured on MSNBC.com and briefly as a top headline on the popular internet homepage MSN.com was titled: "McCain linked to group in Iran-Contra case." The subtitle read: "Organization had ties to former Nazi collaborators, right-wing death squads." The article attacked a group founded by retired U.S. General John Singlaub: "The U.S. Council for World Freedom was part of an international organization linked to former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America. The group was dedicated to stamping out communism around the globe."

The AP appears to be getting its story tips from the Obama campaign, as Boston Globe deputy national political editor, Foon Rhee, reported: "The Obama camp today is sending around reports on Singlaub, founder of the US Council for World Freedom, which was involved in the Iran-Contra scandal during the mid-1980s and was criticized for supposed links to Nazi collaborators and right-wing death squads in Central America." The AP article justified reporting on the tenuous McCain connection by explaining: "McCain's ties are facing renewed scrutiny after his campaign criticized Barack Obama for his link to a former radical who engaged in violent acts 40 years ago."

In the article, General Singlaub is quoted and suggested that McCain had little or no involvement in the organization: "We had McCain on the board to make him feel like he wasn't left out. It looks good to have names on a letterhead who are well-known and appreciated. I don't recall talking to McCain at all on the work of the group." Despite that explanation, the AP still thought it appropriate to suggest an equivalence between McCainâ??s ties to such an organization and Obamaâ??s ties to domestic terrorist Bill Ayers: "The renewed attention over McCain's association with Singlaub's group comes as McCain's campaign steps up criticism of Obama's dealings with William Ayers, a college professor who co-founded the Weather Underground and years later worked on education reform in Chicago alongside Obama."

Didn't we have a thread on here not too long ago about Olberman getting fired or something? And how everyone hates him? He's like the Bill O'Reilly of MSNBC, maybe even worse, and that's saying something.

I guess he still has a format to describe that "funny feeling in his pants".

The left wing cries when you ask about Obama's ties to Rev. Wright, William Ayers, Louis Farrakhan but then they state that republicans are racists; Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Have a good one!:s4:

I dont understand though, he's still on TV, on MSNBC. Did he get fired from a different news agency and end up there?

"while both would continue their commentary and opinion shows, neither would be involved in covering campaign news.".......from the link.

He wasn't "fired" from his own show --- it's still on, same as always. And he is not banned from appearing on other shows. He is just not the lead anchor for the main campaign events like the conventions and the debates. He had been acting as a sort of anchor for those events, and it was over-the-top paritisan. Regular NBC reporters like Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams, who would make appearances during the MSNBC coversage, were embarrassed to be a part of it. So MSNBC canned Olberman from that role, but kept him on his Countdown show.

Matthews got canned from political anchorage, too. They used to anchor together but MSNBC got sick of their squabbling.

I thought the fighting was hilarious, though.
