ok i just ordered this 1000 Watt - High Pressure Sodium - 2000K - Clear - LU1000/ET25 - Plusrite #L10009151202 (http://www.1000bulbs.com/1000-Watt-HPS/32932/)... how far away should the light be from my two week old seedlings.. and how much heat will it make... the setup is in a spare bathroom so, space and height is not a requirement.... and does it screw into any socket? i bought a base off some old man that scraps metal, for 2 dollars base + reflector... it says on it. that it uses hid bulbs.. so if it says it it does it right? LOL

A 1000 watt HPS bulb requires a 1000 watt HPS ballast. No way around that. ANSI codes: E39 mogul base and S52 ballast.

I think 1000 watt bulbs throw off some serious heat. You can veg with CFL's or Flouro tubes and use the HPS for flowering.

You need to buy bulb, reflector and ballast, as a package deal. Goggle: Grow light systems.
