Minimum height requirement

What would be the lowest viable amount of height a plant would need for good dense buds?
I know this seems stupid, but i dont know. Can you lst and top the same plant? I dont see why it would be a problem, but Ive never grown so thats why I ask. Thanks in advance.

Damn fine question. All I tell you is...more the height, the better. I had 8 foot ceilings and wished I had 9 ft.

it depend on ur lighting i dont let my plants get higher than 1 1/2 feet tall because with my 400 hps thats all tha grows buds anyway, tried going 4 feet but just the tops had buds and it takes a long time for them to get that big eitrher way it was 1/4 -1/2 per plant

Thanks for the quick replies. Im going to be doing an LED grow, 2 plants under a 56 watt high powered led panel.
