Using an old extension cord, could 6 sockets each using a 2-bulb splitter (total of 12 30watt CFL bulbs) be spliced in without running risk of blowing something up/starting a fire?

i think there's a risk there... i'd get (2) 3 bulb fixtures and the splitters then wire them with 2 seperate grounded power cords. final product should look something like this...

Except for Golden Grahams photo....?...I agree. I have an old thread around somehwere......a friend talked me through how to put six cfls on one setup with a splitter and a bathroom fixture. I think 12 on one would be pushing it.

I ran 6 on a power strip through a socket/bulb adapter and Y splitters. I was using 23 watters.

Keep in mind most power strips have a circuit/fuse that will trip also if you draw too much for it to handle. Assuming you don't buy the cheap 99 cent ones :hippy:
