Hi, I just purchase this lamp...I think it will be good for my grow space because of 2 things :

1- I can save some space (4 foot ceiling), the lamp is just about 3 inchs high, and I can put the lamp very close to the plants because it produce way less heat thant an HIV lamp...I'm thinking about installed it vertically, will it be less effective than honrizontally ? Also, I've decided to put only warm fluorescent to boost the flowering stage, can I use this lamp for vegetative grow also ?

2- I hope this lamp will allow me to run my grow room without an outtake fan...When the light will be open, I will let my closet door completely open with alot of regular fan to have a good air circulation. Do you think it will be enough ?

My last question is : With this light an a couple more daylight fluorescents, will I be able to grow 8 plants to their full potentiel in a 2 by 4 space?

Thanks alot - PEACE

It should work great. I would mount it horizontal. You'll have to start flowering the plants early because of your height limitations,so the quantity won't be high. A regular fan should work good. 8 plants might be pushing it a little but its worth a try. I've had good luck with T5's.

Mmm yeah, you can always add 4-8 42 watt 2700K CFL's for flowering, using them as fill around the sides. Will give a nice boost for flowering. I actually prefer T5's for veg growth, seems to produce short stocky growth patterns with lots of internodes.:)

heres how u gro chron....

light...u got it but u need more "blue" spectrum bulbs. i would do %70 blue vs. %30 red.... also if ur really pushin the whole, "imma only gro this dank with flouros" then thats chill you just need more light! getting herb with light(espically during veg!) i mean a good amount then ur gonna get a big amount. get a bath bar wall sockethttp://www.stockblowout.com/index.cfm/page/product:display/productId/11526BB-1/manufacturer/Hunter%20Lighting/categoryId/3/finish/Bright%20Brass like that with some good blue and red cfl's. the highest wattage blue cfl at home depot that can screw into that bath fixtures i showed you go up 23 watts. the biggest red is a 30 watts. (see pics below!!!!) can buy that shit up at any home depot. shit is pretty slick. get like 2 or 3 of those six lamp fixtures with bulbs you would be set up for now! later or now if u really wanna spend ton$ of cash(or possibly ur crafty for tha 5 finga discount) but still either ways its gonna be more if you get y adapters(see white y shaped object in pic below!) you screw in the base of it into the socket and wallah! now u can use two bulbs for the space of one! doubling productivity! :rastasmoke: more light=happy herbz!

secondly! u need to start (or when their about 3 weeks from sprout) LST'ing. grow all of them and tie the branches to every angle of light is evenly distributed. when you want to flower save the 4-6 healthiest and grow them MONSTER! get good n' dank nutes(hope u got good soil) keep that ph a balanced and lifes good.

dont let your temps creep up to 75 fahrenheit. shit gets all wacky with plant development and you get better, denser bud if you maintain good temps.

Yes I tought about an HIV...I know they kick ass but the heat will be just too much in there and I don't want anything out of this closet (outakke fan connect to a window and shit...). And with a 4 foot ceiling it was just not reslistic to put an HIV in there, maybe in my next place....

I have a question for you guys : in average when everything go well how much buds you can expect from one plants ? (is 50 g a good starting objective ?)

Thanks

Umm- that fixture will work very well to flower plants up to about 20" finishing height.

Skip the CFL's- this poster seems to have some misconceptions about lighting. The 6500'K lamps that should have come w/ ( seperate package) the fixture will work very well for veg. You will want to replace the 6500's w/ 3000' K lamps when you are ready to flower.

The gibberish about bath wall sockets and LST can be safely ignored.

75' F is actually just about optimal for growth- no idea where that came from. Do try to keep it below 80, though... You shouldn't see signifigant problems until your temps start hitting the low 80's.

I have no idea what " dank nutes" are- use the media and fertilizer system that you're most comfortable with.

Please, folks, if you're not qualified to answer a question, don't just spout off whatever's in your head... We're getting enough of that from the McCain campaign.

OMG- I just realized... Sarah, is that you?

An eight strip x 4 is about 40,000 lumens.. I wouldnt flower over 5 plants under that even with a short veg time. It wont do Eight plants to their potential. You will just get less yield.... Good luck bro twocents easy d

Finnally I've listen to your advices...I'm now growing only 3 plants, they are only 2 weeks old, but everything looks nice. After I re-think my setup I'm sure that 8 plants was a bit ambicious. Let's start with some moderation and a better chance of succes :D

I have a question about mother plant...I know a mother plant should always be kept under the light on a 18 hours light and 6 hours darkness ratio. But how can I make sure the plant I choose to be my mother plan is a female ? What I understand is that we can diffirenciate the sex of the plant about 2 weeks in flowering stage...I'm confused :wtf:

Thanks

Well, what is generally done to determine if a new seedling is a female is that a separate clone is taken and put directly into flower. Obviously, what you get determines what sex the plant it is. However, because the cutting would have no time to vegetate properly, it must be destroyed as it will have pretty much no root structure and not a strong stalk at all.

I'll be watching...

:smokin:you got to veg under 18/6 or to speed things up under 16/8 and you will see the pre sex of the plant as it becomes mature enough to flower, if you try to force seed plants to flower before you see the pre sex signs you will just stress the plant and wont be to full potiential.
