im on my first grow almost 2 weeks in. ive got six 23 watt cfls goin and the box i have its about 4 feet long 2 feet high and about a foot and a half deep. so far i have four plants in my box. 2 plants are like 3 inches tall and have about six leaves on them a piece. the other 2 are about five days old. i was just wondering if that sounds like a good setup. plus i have a double pc fan for intake and i think a 80mm pc fan for exaust. its a pretty sweet setup but i was wondering if it will be tall enough for my plants:rasta:

Two feet high (box)...could be a problem...but, it sounds great for raising lizards....:thumbsup:

what kind of box are you using? how are the lights set up? do you have any reflective material inside the box? best bet would be finding a box with more favorable dimensions. but you should be able to get something yielded.

the more you read the wealth of information available at your fingertips, the better off you will be.

its an old plywood storage box that my buddy built a while ago. the lights are aligned on the top of the lid. as for reflective material all i could find at the moment of making box was alm foil. its not a bad little setup. my next grow im gonna turn one of my old dressers into my grow cab. im gonna make the front which is the drawers. into the door. and by that time i hope to have my 150watt hps ready to go. the dresser is like 4 and a half feet tall 3 feet wide 2 feet deep. that one im not sure how im gonna setup the intake and exaust. it will be difficult but hey im up for the challenge.im tryin to get pics up just cant figure out how lol to show you whats goin on with my current grow. thanks for helpin me shake

no worries bigsmoke. i'm new here and am limited in knowledge, but i'll do my best to help. the dresser sounds like a good cab. as far as the intake/exhaust you can use a hole saw. or if it's on the back maybe it's just thin backing. either way it won't be a big deal. start thinking about the design now. try to keep the stealth factor (no exhaust on sides etc.). i'm not sure how hot a 150W HPS bulb gets but you should be able to make it work.

yea what i was thinkin is putting the exaust which would be a couple a big pc fans and putting a couple for intake mabye possibly even putting a small desk fan tacked up on the wall of the dresser for fresh air and cuttin a little hole for a passive intake or whatever its called lol. but yea that way im gonna try the sog method my next grow. ya know. but hopefully i get somethin out of my current grow. my plants all look female its only been like a week since i started flowering. so lets hope for the best lol and again thnx for the help man

so out of 4 plants 1 was a female which blows balls. ut i met this guy who is supposed o give me some k2 clones he seems really cool im also buyin a brand new 250watt hps light from him for 95 bucks. but hopefully i will be moving soon and i can really set up my grow room.

hey man i'm on my fisrt grow myself ive done alot of research but still have to ask questions. i would have to say that your set-up will be perfect i've seen real nice plant in a smaller area just really have to be careful withe that light unless it's cooled otherwise it will get hot in there. i got pics up on my thread the 2 big ones are 3 weeks old the rest are all spaced out bi-weekly but yea check em out i think im doin alright.

most definitely i think a cool tube reflector will help it gonna have like a 250cfm in line duct fan. the ill prob buy another one for the intake for the cool tube so 2 250 cfm fans should keep it cool the im gonna have a 4 inch passive intake with a clip on desk fan oscilating inside of it so i think it will saty cool. hope so. hows your grow goin shake i aint heard from you in like a minute bro. :rasta:

man, they are growing pretty well. i planted em, i guess around the 13th of october. they are short and busy at the moment. check out the grow log in the signature. i keep it updated pretty-regularly. i'll have some new pics up there tonight, soon as i get my camera back.

nice grom man. i wish i had a camera to post pics up but my camera got jacked. but i have already started my second grow. its been 2 days this being the second day they are already an inch tall! which is alot fuckin faster than last time. im goin to my local hydro shop next week to pick up some fox farm ocean blend soil i think thats what it is call and some nutes and possibly some root stimulater. for when i start cloning.

looks good. dunno if i'd attach the ballast to the dresser though. i assume its not a digital. if its a magnetic ballast, it could transfer a lot of heat through the back of the dresser. maybe build a little ballast box to set beside the dresser?

alright. just read through your thread for the first time. also watch root growth in that clear container. too much light and roots turn green. this affects their nutrient uptake ability. also, is that a watering can in with your plant? if so, take it out. begging for fungus gnats. you don't want them.

couldn't get either link to work bigsmoke. the setup looks nice. i would move the plants as close to the ligts as you can. somewhere in the 1-3" range. and i can't tell but make sure that the soil is within an inch of the top. if not the air can get stagnant and cause problems with your stem right at soil level.

let us know when you decide about the dresser or closet. can't wait to see what you do.

my original grow box i built im getting my dresser in like a week its in storage. and yea i think im gonna wrap the bottles in like duct tape or somethin. plus im prob gettin my hps tonight. so hopefully soon i found this website that the guy who is selling me the light its called attitude seeds. and its a bad ass place to buy seeds and the plus is is that they hide te seeds in like dvd cases zippos t-shirts and all sorts of stuff. im prob gonna buy these seeds it is ak47xlowrider #2 autoflower feminized seeds plus they are giving me 5 free supper skunk and one oher seed. its kick ass.

yea i feel you i went through the same deal with my roommate (x girlfriend) but it really isn't a huge change in the bill its only a 400 watt light the electrical company charges by the killowatt per hour which is equal to 1000 watts running for an hour i know that where i live its like $.6/hr

so anyways since im on here alone ha ha use this for my personal use later plants are looking great need to transplant very soon cause they are up to about a foot tall the 3 big ones. woke up this mornin and the 3 big ones were all really droopy so i dint freak just noticed they needed to be watered so i watered them. and about 3-4 hours later they were all perked up again its amazing how plants work. but other than that yea thats about it.

CanCom is loading painfully slow so I didn't read every thing but looking at your first posts one thing is worth mentioning.

You have 2 fans for intake and one out.
Now, these are computer fans and not very powerful but in principle that's a no no.
You want underpressure in your grow room absolutelly not overpressure.

Why?

Well, a few reasons.
You want all air that vacate the room to be hot and all air that gets in cool. If you have an overpressure air will get out everywhere instead of just where you want it, close to the top. This will significantly raise the temperature in the tent.
If you have 3 fans designated for ventillation you should put at least 2, preferably all 3 for exhaust close to the top of the growroom and let the underpressure suck air in as low as possible.
This is much more effective and also make sure that you get as much CO2 rich air into the tent as possible = healthier plants and bigger harvest.

well i have moved on from that grow man im on my 3rd grow in my apartment in my closet with clones that when i cut them they stayed in the 12 12 light cycle so they kept budding and they are like 4 inches tall and almost done budding
