Bush signs $600 billion stopgap bill
Wed, 01 Oct 2008 02:11:16 GMT
US President George W. Bush signs a government expenditures bill topping 600 billion dollars after his economic relief plan fails.

After Bush's banking bailout scheme failed, the president endorsed a budget bill of 600 billion dollars to fund his administration's activities for the next six months, AFP reported.

Referring to his rejected plan to rescue Wall Street, Bush said, â??I am disappointed that the Congress passed a long-term continuing resolution. There is much work to be done, and the Congress should not adjourn for the year without finishing important business on spending, taxes, and free trade agreements.â?

The Congress rejected Bush's economic rescue plan to revive the country's ailing investment and money markets due to unclear points in parts of the scheme.

The United States' financial crisis began after the housing market slumped precipitously.

Seriously, Why does he have the power to do something so stupid? They talk about how Obama wants to spend more money and raise taxes. There wont even be a dime left to spend because no one will want to lend us the money anymore. Cost of living has already skyrocketed compared to the slow crawl my pay increases. I used to easily be able to afford the stuff I have. Now even though I have a lot payed off with no new payments, I've been having to skimp a lot on my spending.

according to the US treasury department website, the national debt increased by $400 billion between september 15 and september 30

september 30 is the fiscal year end for the us gov't...according to the congressional budget office projections in january 2008, the national debt was supposed to be $9.4 trillion on september 30...instead, the national debt now stands at over $10 trillion...that means the projected $414 billion deficit for 2008 became an actual $1 trillion deficit in just one year (the national debt did increase by over $1 trillion in 2008)

on average the federal government spend more than it took in by over $2.7 billion every single day of 2008, and that doesn't include any of the bailout plan money

It'll be close to 11 trillion by the end of the year. Lets see 300 million Americans divides into 11 trillion equals $370,000 a piece for every living man woman and child in America. They are going to have to do a better job of taxing the dead.
