Hello Everyone~!!
I am just getting around to reading the forum rules and I wish I would have read then before this~!:(
Anyway I like this forum. My Father has just been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer of the Lungs and brain, Now it is in his bones. He just turned 73. I would like to get him informed on medical marijuana. Before it was all about me....( My Bad:wtf: ) Now after my phone conversation with him I am thinking otherwise. What States are medical Marijuana legal in?? He is very sick from the radiation and the Chemo.....right now there really is no hope so I am thinking maybe this will make him comfortable and help his appetite.
I have spoken with a very nice person here "Stinky".......Hey Stinky Thanks for the info and help. I do hope to meet other nice people here. As it looks like I will be frequently visiting this forum.
Please advise on other Topic's here I possibly should give a read to.

It is October already and dreaded winter is coming....Last year in Maine we had snow storms that dumped 12 feet at a time~!! God talk about looking forward to Springs and flowers blooming again.

No prob; check the 'medical cannabis and health' section, and the lists of scientific papers and articles that Storm Crow has compiled for us on the many MANY medical applications of our favorite plant!
Best wishes to your father.

I suffer from stage 4 (extensive) small cell lung cancer as well (is his small cell or non-small cell?)

I've found cannabis to help a fair amount with my nausea etc with chemo. I asked my cancer doc one day about his thoughts on "medical marijuana" and he gave me an interesting answer.

He said he felt the mj COULD have a place in cancer therapy......but he doubts this will happen for several reasons; among them (being his largest issue) is regulating mj......or standardizing it if you will. Because everyone "grows their own" there is really no way to tell if there are proper "theraputic levels" in your weed, not to mention possible pesticides etc being used if you bought rather than grow your own. He feels this is a very large issue regarding mmj and I agree he has an excellent point. That's why I don't see a huge shift towards mmj in cancer treatment and doubt it will happen anytime really soon.

THAT BEING SAID........I use plenty off mj daily and have VERY VERY few problems with nausea and vomiting during my chemo. I strongly PERSONALLY believe that this is due to the ganja. I do still use my standard nausea meds......but need less of it than normal and get a better effect when used together with mj......MY OPINION ONLY!

I don't smoke it......and I suggest your grandfather not suck anything into his lungs either. But you can cook with it, or make a tincture and these are all ways to use it without further trashing the lungs. I've found it creates a synergesic effect with my other meds.....using a bit of the mmj means I can use less of the stronger prescriptions and get a better response.

Please understand that I speak for myself only and am NOT telling you what to do with your grandfather. I'm simply relating my experience.

PS.....Tell your grandfather to get mad and fight!! Beat that cancer sucker back!! It CAN be done.

Good luck.

YES "Atrayou" from the "Never Ending Story" :D That was my beloved Rottweiler's name. He passed in 2002 from Diabetes.....I was whacking him up with insuline twice a day for 4 years. He got it young at age 5~!!!

Great info from the Cancer patient Thanks....Oh and for the record it is my Dad not my Grandfather.

Many Thanks~!!

oops......sorry about the grandfather part.

I use it mostly in two ways.....we make capsules and cookies so no smoking needed (or wanted) but he may be able to get away with a vaporizer.....I'm not really sure. I have a vape pipe but am not so crazy about it so hesitate to suggest it for your dad.

Good luck to you both......don't give up!!
