Arcata city council is going to make new guidelines for dispensaries and medical growers. I think I remember grow areas might be limited from 100 sq ft to 50 sq ft/ 250 cubic ft for ALL grow related supplies, plants, equipment. They make it sound like you can't have your nutes, or even dry your buds outside that sacred 50 sq ft.

The Arcata City Council plans to finally add medical marijuana dispensary guidelines to its recently approved land use code.

The council will meet Wednesday to discuss and approve the dispensary guidelines, aimed at imposing regulations on how dispensaries operate in hopes of curbing Proposition 215 card abuse, and amend them into the land use code.

After months of deliberating on the language of the dispensary guidelines, the commission was delayed by the release of state guidelines late last month.

The commission had decided that it needed more time to evaluate the Office of the Attorney General's guidelines since several definitions were lacking from Arcata's current draft code.

In other matters, the council will also continue with its establishment of a Transactions and Use Tax Committee, which would oversee the funds from a three-quarter percent general tax that will be on the November ballot. If the tax passes, the committee will make sure the tax funds are used for public safety and road maintenance.

To review the medical marijuana guidelines, go to City of Arcata - Home (http://www.cityofarcata.org) and click on ??Agendas,? and go to the City Council agendas.
