OMG~!! Please help me. My plants went through 4 days of hard rain. They seemed to ahndle it well. Yesterday they looked fine except I broke or bent a top cola branch I tied it with some string it seems to be okay. BUT today I have 3 plants that are looking horrible. The leaves are curled and brown, dried up. Also I have a few plants that have little black bugs on them. They are in the buds. If you enlarge the photo the one with my hand holding the branch you can see the bugs. But I need help with the leaves dying on me. I have 4 weeks left to go I think. I have more photos in next post too!

Keep in mind that my plants are in my garden and it is all black plastic. I was fertilizing and molasses watering before the rain storm. Now what do I do So this does not spread?

I'd lose the plastic around your plants ASAP because you don't need to conserve moisture after a heavy rain; you want it to get used up or EVAPORATE before it drowns the plants.

I can not do that it cost us a fortune to plastic that graden. Plus it has to last me another year. All my other plants are okay just these few. What is the cause??? The holes around the plants are way too small so they are not soaked i am sure of that. If I got a sunny day the rest of the garden would show wilt from being too dry. Could it be I got a frost last night in patches??? Or is it those black bugs??? Can I spray something on them to get rid of those bugs?? The sun just came out Thank God~!! Will the plants keep growing??? SHOULD I TRIM THAT DEAD STUFF OFF????
Help my Stinky PLEASE I can't remove the plastic.

Frost? Oh dear, yes that can certainly do it!
I'm glad the sun is out and you are going to get some nice dry weather. For the bugs, you have only a few options when harvest time is close, but Safer's soap is one of them. Spray lightly, avoiding the actual buds if you can, early in the day so it has a chance to dry.
Are you in an area that is normally quite dry and requires heavy mulch? Just curious.
When frost is predicted- you should look at the sky at night and if it is clear, protect your plants. You can toss an old bedsheet over the garden, and then remove it in the morning. The tomatoes will be happy too.

What is Safers Soap and where do I get it??? I have Sevin Bug Spray it is for plants, flowers and Vegetables. Can I use that and then possibly when the bugs are dead take a spray bottle of just water and spray them again on a nice day say in the morning so they have time to dry??
I live in Maine. My garden only gets 4 full hours of sun a day that is the reason for the plastic and it gets cold at night and it keeps my soil warm. My garden does fabulaous for the lack of sunshine it gets...It seems though with fall here that I m getting sun earlier in the morning on the garden and it is lasting longer also~!! The days only get to be in the high 60's low 70's around this time of year. I have stakes put in next to my plants so I can cover them at night. My biggest worry is SHOULD I TRIM THAT DEAD STUFF OFF??? And WILL the plants keep growing??? It just seems funny how it is 4 of the plants and the others are all fine. They are the plants in the back of the garden not the front. These are not spider mites I have no webs...Spider mites are red usually. These are black. I don't know what they are but I need to get rid of them. The only way to do that would be the Sevin Bug Spray. I have 4-5 weeks left of flower time. I just wonder with a few dry days if they will go back to normal and not keep curling up and drying. Also these are lower buds. I need feed back and lot's of it Stinky. I have the crop sold and I need to get it to harvest. I really need the cash. Money is going for Hay and that is so expensive with the economy the way it is....Next year I will plan a bigger garden a seperate garden for just weed.

Safers can be bought pretty much anywhere, even walmart I think. I would not use Sevin this close to harvest! It is not labelled for late use on consumable crops.
There's a mite identification misnomer amongst us potheads, lol! You are correct spider mites are red; those don't harm plants. The mites we see in our gardens are called spider mites even though they are a different species because they weave webs.
Black bugs- I can't think offhand what they might be besides fungus gnats, but those are more a greenhouse problem from what I can think of. They like standing water and soggy soil. In and of themselves, they are not harmful to plants but CAN spread disease.
Picking leaves- I wouldn't do it if it's a frost kill issue.
Back garden plants- do they get less light and less breeze? Another reason they could be suffering the cold and damp earlier on.
Also at walmart they sell Serenade which is TOTALLY safe and OMRI organic certified to use as a rot preventative. Instead of picking leaves, I'd simply treat them to prevent them rotting.
Remember outdoor plants don't always look pretty like indoor ones! But they still make BUD.

Stinky I have 2 days of rain coming again...should I cover the plants????? Also do you think that from me driving stakes down beside the plant that I hurt the root system??? Shock or something??? I will go to Walmart or Home Depot and get that Sernade I will buy it all up if it is going off the market. What about Corn syrup?? I have been fertilizing almost every other day before the rain happened. I used 10-52-10. I also used a bone meal 0-12-0 and molasses.....do you think I have over done it??? So many things going thorugh my mind right now. I am worried it could be internal from another thread I read. If so will corn syrup help??? I must get this crop to mature. I am about ready to cry.
Just found out my Dad has stage 4 lung and brain cancer he is in FLA I need money to get a flight to go see him before he dies...Plus stocking my barn...I was really counting on this crop. Input please and Thanks for ANy advise.

That 2006 thread you bumped re: corn syrup had some real 'gems' in it :wtf:.
Stop fertilizing. That is a LOT of feed and you may be salting your soil. There's no way to flush a plant in the ground, and overapplication of chemical ferts will sour your garden soil. I'd stick with organics as much as possible if you plan to use the spot again the next year.
NO CORN SYRUP. Stop fertilizing. Just do light, regular treatments with serenade to keep the rot at bay and if you want to cover the plants for the rain, go for it. Take the cover off as SOON as the rain is over and let them air out. Stagnant, moist air under the tarp isn't much better than a shower! I am going to be camping in Maine this weekend and not looking forward to the rain either.
Just FYI- please don't talk about selling the crop. It's against site rules and puts us in danger of closer scrutiny from whoever is watching the boards.

Thanks Sticky and I am so sorrry I will keep my mouth zipped about that .....I am glad you told me when I came to this site of sourse I was in such a panick about things that I did not read the forum rules.:( MY BAD. Jessus what was I thinking????
Well I woke up this morning and I woke up to rain and I did not cover...it is warm out though..those 4 days of past rain it was cold and damp out. Yeah I think I may have over fertilized. I was at Walmart Yesterday too. Do you think a Farmers/ Feed store would carry this Serenade stuff??? They are a lot closer to me then Walmart...Gass prices are killing this girl.
Hey where you going camping???
