View Full Version : Guys, which is better?

Is it better to have a job that pays decent and you would be able to do while stoned, or to have a job that challenges you, and almost prevents you from being able to come in high?
I was supposed to hear from 2 big job interviews this week, one was the said decent-paying-easy job that I could have FOR SURE gone to high every day if I wanted to. The 2nd is the better-paying-challenging job that I'd have to be on the ball for.
I think I know what the "right" answer to this question is, but in anyone's personal or professional opinion, which one is BETTER? is it more rewarding to do a hard day's work and chill out when you get home, or is it more interesting to be able to show up secretly smoked and let that start your day?
Seeking honest opinions.
edit: oh ps, forgot to mention... today i was told that the decent-easy job was given to the other guy today. they said i was an impressive interview, but they felt i'd be hard to challenge daily, and that i'd get bored easily with the job. puh.

Were it me, I would go for the more challenging job that pays more and chill when I got home.....which is pretty much what I do. I like it when I am working and making $120/hr. OTOH, I could always flip burgers stoned.

Being high on the job is the last thing that should be on your mind when considering a job.
It comes down to this:
Do you like doing something new each day, each day is different, do you like to work independently and make many decisions on your own?
or
Do you like having a routine, having your day structured for you, being told what to do? This is not necessarily a bad thing, some people like to be micro-managed.

I'd go for the more challenging one. I mean you'd be making more money plus you probably won't get bored. Its always good to push yourself.

it depends, what kind of lifestyle you like to live. I personally would rather have more money and then smoke more when i dont have to work, that saves green in both meanins, and means you can buy more goodies to play with while "high out yo mind." Plus, i personally feel that i like a good challange, when i was in calculus in HS we would get 3 problems for a 60 minute period of time, and that is all we would do after checking HW and the such. It made the periods go by very fast, and we often worked right to the bell. Luckily it was the last period each day for me, so i was able to take my time packing up, and it made the last hour go by quickly. Overall, you would most likely feel more successful doing the harder job. Though the easier job would make you more happy, for a while, until you got bored, like the person said. I feel that going to work high is a fine idea, but if it gets in the way of your progress then it shall never work, nor shall you.

it really depends on what kind of job and lifestyle we are talking.
u could be doing hand work that pays good (mechanics)
or u could be doing accounting... both pay good enough for their levels but in the latter there aint no way u can risk being high at work... couple mistakes caught by ur peers or supervisors and u will find your way out swiftly
but i know lots of mechanics who get high everyday at work and still get paid good enough to live a decent life for a single person.
it all depends.
but just answering your specific question and not knowing any other details, i would personally take the easy route and make enough good money to be happy with... however if we are talking 20 grand difference per year in income potential i would probably go with the more challenging job... there is always time to get high:D

thank you all for your fine responses, they (most of them) were basically what i was looking for - your honest, and comprehensive answers.
as it turns out, i was told today that i was overqualified for the easy job, a message that, while flattering, is still not what i was eager to hear. still, if it means i don't have to make the decision between the two (if i get the harder one), i'm happy about that. i often tend to let fate take the wheel, i like it when life drives.
it's not like im a fiend and i need to get high before all my endeavors, it was just that...i was something of a fucking pothead in college, i did most of my activites stoned... classes, tests sometimes, jobs... i guess im just just trying to recapture that controlled irrisponsibility.
this "difficult" job is a job at The Juilliard School, a somewhat prestigious place. My job wouldn't be anything high up like professor or anything, but it still requires a sharp mind and I definitely would need a solid head on my shoulders during the day.
So anyway, I hope I get it. No drug test involved either, which is a major plus lol. I know i'm not overqualified, just hope I'm not UNDERqualified...
and yea, the money difference wasn't 20grand like someone said, but it was enough to make a difference. and i can definitely settle for a nice bowl or bongrip after I settle in for the night.
Is there anyone out there that DOES go to a slightly-high-up/important job ripped?

i wouldnt say i have a super important job, nothing that actually gives me a salary. But in my company, we are small, I am rather high up in it, and am getting higher everyday im there, i get a new responsibility. And i used to go in completely off my rocker sometimes, and it was a challange, and it made me feel bad that i was doing it because my bosses relied on me to do stuff, and i would just feel lazy doing so. Now if i smoke before going in, it is hours ahead of time, so that im not completely out of it, but i may have a little after affect, and i like getting the munchies when i first get there since we open at 11 i am able to get some lunch when i first settle in, and im set for the day. One could say that i would be considered an assistant manager, and now im starting to become the IT guy, so getting high before work isnt so appealing as it used to be. Plus like i said before, i like the feeling of that light buzz after work, it makes me feel really high, but in reality im not.
