ok so a friend gave me a plant he thought was dying. well i don't really know where to start as far as watering, nutes and some basics. O the other hand I have been poking around and researching. So I made a box 500 watt cfl's 3000k and 6500k at same time for wide spectrum am lst do to low height got some nice buds going on it's starting to come back. Now I have some seedlings to take care of aswell please help. any info esp from Stinky attic "the queen" would be greatly appreciated. Also posting etiquette. Thank You:joint1:

Tell your friend he's an ass for giving a (stressed) plant to someone without the skills to properly care for it. Least he could do is to give you one that's healthy, and a heads-up on care and feeding. (have you tried asking 'your friend' how to care for them?)
Having said that...look at the grow log section. Many different ways to acheive the same goals. (altho some are definatelly better than others) See which set-up's are closest to yours, and learn from their experience. You can also try looking thru the cannabis FAQ's.

If it's an emergency, and she's fading fast...completely fill out the troubleshooting form, and include pix if possible.

Being a social misfit...posting etiquite isn't my strong suit, and I'm not too sure where to look it up. Stinky should be getting up pretty soon tho, lol.

That box have good airflow in there? Plants don't do well in stagnant air, they like breezes and ventilation and fresh air. Also how hot is it in that box? Overheating can kill your plant off as well. Maybe a few less light bulbs for a bit till she starts doing better.

Consider buying a larger pot and some quality soil (NOT Miracle Grow!) and transplanting into something a bit larger sized with fresh nutes and things (which will already be in your quality soil so you won't have to add them). I think that would help the plant recover as well.

I won't go into things like ph etc because you say you are quite the newbie but as Rusty said ALL those things are important to plant growing so study up!!

Good luck.

I would skip the molasses!! I have had bad experiences with it. Plus the state they are in I feel it would do even more harm, I would work on getting them back to health by giving them some Fox Farm Big Bloom and some Cha Ching.

You can get Fox Farm nutes at htgsupply.com

Your ph is fine just let them recover now and do not water to much.

edub325.....

I just read the log and i hope i can make a few suggestions. First, I think you shoudl switch the intake and exhaust....you want that big fan on the top EXHAUSTing and the smaller fan on the bottom as an intake......(hot air rises)

second, your lights might cause you issues in your grow because they hang down a little low....I took bordom of childrens design and slightly modded it......but his suggestion for vanity fixures was perfect....it allows you to tuck them lights up about an inch of the top.

Third, I would take jg advice and find some fox farm stuff and particulary the bestie blooms.....this stuff will stop the vertical growth of a plant in its tracks...The liquid nutes are great, but the powdered stuff really helps a grower....the open seseme will trigger you plants into flowering its a great transitional nute.....like i said the bestie blooms will stop the vertical growth, and the cha ching will pack on the weight.....

Hope this helps a little.....you might also want to paint the outside black to prevent light leaks.

is the main cola cut? to me it looks like it is, that straw looking stick in the first picture? wonder if that will have any effect on it. never done that before maybe someone knows if it does.

Personally, ive tried almost about evrything from Home Depot and Lows, Walmart.....you name it with little success......As soon as I switched to professional Hydro Nutes....I started having success grows......Lots of people do it the HD or Lows way...ive just not had much success that way! There is no Hydro Store in your area? or within hours away? You should buy a pre paid CC and try to order.....it will make the job just that much easier!

and again thanks on the info. now when i fill the hempy w/perlite is root ball supposed to float, how much runoff, how big is weep hole supposed to be? and as always thank you for your knowledge. btw pretty plants

Depending on the size of your hempy buckets.. if you were using a 3 or 5 gallon bucket, I'd make the hole at least as big as a nickel, maybe even a quarter.
Make sure you put the hole about 2 inches up from the bottom of the bucket.
Smaller bucket/cup, smaller hole.

I don't know anything about growing hempy buckets so I'll leave that to those who do. Good luck with your growing! :)

Looks like you have not enough ventilation and not enough aeration to the roots.
I'm not so sure I'd go Hempy for a 1st time grower. Can you take the plant out of the box, get a side shot of the whole thing including pot, and describe the setup- a real hempy bucket is very specific. That looks like not very light soil and possibly a pot with a built-in catch tray- both bad for plants.

Wow, Thank you for your info. Ms. Stinky the pot I have this mystery plant in has a mod. drain setup I flipped the catch can over for some height and drilled holes to drain into a bigger catch can. As far as hempy pots doobster and killa have been a big help, just some minor adjustments and some more reading. This is really nice to see people helping out, w/ all the BS going on in the world. Once again to everyone helping out Thank You.

WOW dooobster thats large.....i always use the standard 1/2 inch hole on all my bucket, but any size is adaqute......and no the rootball is not suppose to float.....i learned this the hard way also.......usually after i mix my perlite/verm and put it in my buckets.....i water the buckets(phed water with a drop of superthrive) without the rooted plant......get runoff.....then drain them......place rootball in buckets....cover with medium.....rewater with nute solution!

And i say Hempy's are perfect for a first time grower......really nothing to them......the soil to hempy does worry me though.....but theres no ppm meters....really the only thing you have to do is water them and check the nute ph.....other than that..... the reasons i think its better because i found it hard to guage nutes in soils.....because most of them have nutes....most of us transplant throught the grows and i find that hard....Second complicated Hydro systems take ppm meter....pumps that clog.....res temps....you name it and it can go wrong.....Now hempys....no pumps....no ppm meter...no res temps to worry about....medium has no nutes so you control the outcome(and if you do make a mistake...the medium holds little or no nute...so fixing them takes days instead of weeks or death)......and honestly this is no offense to Stickyattic and this is no personal stab of any sorts....i love her grows, and her threads are some of the most knowledgable on the net on this subject....so go for what you know.....im sure if you have more questions me or dooobster will be happy to help...

There's no inherent problem with Hempys IF you study the technique BEFORE setting up the grow and follow instructions perfectly. As Killa says, the medium is perlite/vermiculite. One of the things the Hempy style depends on is the pore size in the medium; soil has insufficient pore size. You can't do a flood-n-drain with dirt, either...
I guess I should re-phrase my earlier comment, lol... don't try any sort of unusual method until you know HOW it is different from a pot of dirt and WHY it can actually work.

Thank you all for alot of knowledge as I have decided to use the seedlings in hempy's. I have been taking everyones advice and thank you all once again. I have left the other plant in soil for now. I will post some more pics soon. She looks better but has some funky yellow spots on some of the bigger leaves, and she stinks so good.

ok so killa and doobster here we grow. finally found a store w/ ff got some grow big and big bloom cha ching now what

killa12345
10-19-2008, 03:33 PM
id personally buy the whole FF line up.....because you have really only parts of the feeding schedule.....

The grow big is for Veg......and works very well with the big bloom......The Cha Ching is for the very final stages of bloom and works with the other two nute grow big and big bloom, but you are going to need the tiger bloom or some other bloom nute in the beginning stages of bloom....

The open seseme and bestie blooms arent really needed but they help with the transitional periods between veg and bloom....and the bestie bloom will completely control the height of the plants from the first feeding...

I really dont know what else is your problem......any questions i can answer id be happy too.....the problem is that i dont have any experience with not running all the FF nutes or someother complete nute line like AN sensi, GH lucas Formula. These i feel i can give great advice with these nute complet lineup, but if your not going to use the complete nute lineups....i really have limited advice because im not the best at creating my own nute formulas based on problems which might present themselves....

Please state specific problems you are having and i will answer them to my best ability!
