View Full Version : Allowing plants to stretch up to screen?

I'm fairly schooled in general indoor growing but am trying my hand at a CFL SCROG micro grow. For the sake of simplicity and, well a hood that is a pain in the arse to move up and down, I was wondering if anybody has experience in letting their plants stretch, under low light conditions, up to the screen? At the screen the light levels are perfect and from there normal growth can commence. Does anybody else do this and are there any foreseen problems beyond spindly stalks, which shouldn't be a problems since they'll be tied off to the screen anyways.?... Thanks for your replies.

IT depends a lot where you are in the grow cycle. Set your screen to allow for some vertical growth at flower time, or cobble something together where the screen and pot are one unit and you can move THAT up and down.
Stems can thicken over time, and you are right that the support will come largely from the screen.
