Israel ambassador to UN: General Assembly chief is an Israel hater
Last update - 19:07 25/09/2008
Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Gabriela Shalev on Thursday called the President of the UN General Assembly Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann an "Israel hater" for having hugged Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a vocal enemy of Israel.
Brockmann has incurred the wrath of the Israeli delegation before, when in his first speech as the president of the international body he said that "the greatest case failure of the United Nations is the lack of a Palestinian state."
Shalev voiced her outrage in an interview on Thursday, condemning Brockmann's gesture at the end of Ahmadinejad's address at the opening of the 63rd General Assembly on Tuesday, which was aggressive and anti-Israel.

Brockmann, a 75-year-old Catholic priest, was scheduled to dine alongside Ahmadinejad in a meal marking the end the Ramadan fast, organized by five American religious groups.
The director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), Abraham H. Foxman, called the event "a perversion of the search for peace and an appalling betrayal of religious values." Foxman has also asked UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to publicly condemn the anti-Semitic content of the Iranian leader's address.

damn playa haterz lol, but see Israel should actually be the playa to say such a thing. they just say in words that they are in favor of diplomacy while in action they denounce this idiot, ahmadinejad to the point where they wanna boycott and even arrest him... so how is this giving diplomacy a chance?
u cant say we wanna fix this thru negotitations and then denounce your counterpart in the conflict to the point where u portray any interaction with him as a great sin and "hating"
they do the very same thing regarding palestinians, they do say we want peace, but then when it comes to talks they denounce almost every palestinian official out there with very few exceptions... so how can they expect the diplomacy and diplomatic efforts not to fail and their counterparts in conflict to trust them or work with them when there is no spirit of diplomacy, i have no idea.... to me, u either want a problem solved or u dont. the only way to solve it is to read where the problem is and then act to solve it, unless u wanna totally erase the question
