Hi all, You people (she said while wagging her finger) have totally corrupted me(G) So I am thinking of growing a small crop inside this winter. What I was thinking of is growing maybe 10 lowryders in 2-3g pots with soil. I am going to have to have my set up in a closet because I have cats(G) I am thinking of getting either 4-3 foot fluorescents double bulb bars or eight singles. What ratio should I have between the 3000ks and the 6500ks? What else do I need? Smell isn't an issue. Will the light be sufficient?

You should check out sunleaves.com (Sunleaves :: Sunleaves Pioneer IV Grow (http://www.sunleaves.com/detail.asp?sku=SPG104)) there are multiple benefits with that system and I think it might help with your situation. As far as the color temp of the light read about the color spectrum differences between vegetation and flowering. If smell isn't an issue, what do you have for ventilation? ps. what is (G)?

Would I need ventilation beyond opening a window? I am now thinking about getting one of those small 4 tier greenhouse and set it on our deck and if it gets too cold I can bring it inside. I am going to use CFL's instead of the tubes. I also will be getting some sunlight to help augment the lights.

Up to about 1000watts in a semi-enclosed area in a room...just "cracking" the window is decent enough actually if the ambient climate is mild enough.
You sound as tho you are about to invest in your lighting. If so...go straight to HID's. Flouro is for young cuttings and growers on TIGHT space/power/security restrictions.
If you have a somewhat "free" room to use...400-600w HID right off the bat.
