Hello, my name is Amanda and I stumbled across the forums, love all the info.
Just wanted to share that I just became a patient, and visited the Unit D - Tangent Retail on Brookhurst st in Garden Grove to get my MM. The people there were very friendly and the cost seems ok compared to other dispensaries in my area. They also have edibles, and I got a free joint as first time patient. The guy was also very patient with me and answered all my questions and gave me a lot of info.
I got a mix called Juicy Fruit, 75$ for 1/8th. Gets the job done, takes the pain away.
Just thought I'd share my review!

Awesome!
That first legal smoke is sweet because you have nothing to worry about!

Yeah it is pretty nice. I'm only a little worried at times because I'm on Informal Probation, but I guess it's legal so I can't get in trouble? No idea, but I never smoke in public so I think I'll be ok haha.
I had a quick question, the dispensary I signed up had me sign some papers to start my membership there. The only thing is one of the papers had a section stating that I cannot sign up with any other dispensary until my year-long with Unit D is up. I'm not sure why that is?
A delivery service would be great but I hear they charge a lot

You don't have to get drug tested, do you? If not, you should be ok as long as you're in the privacy of your own home. But I know some people who got in trouble for violating their probation even after getting their medical clearance for marijuana and failing their drug tests.
I'm not sure why Unit-D's paperwork said that, but you're allowed to go to any dispensary in California as long as you have your doc's rec and California ID. Anywhere up north from Arcata all the way down to Santa Ana.
Here is a list of dispensaries thoughout the state:

Amanda, they are just protecting their own self-interests! They just don't want you going elsewhere for a year! By that time, your "customer preferences" are fixed, and you will likely continue buying there, and even if other places give better deals, they will feel "strange".
If there are other dispensaries, check them out. Personally, I find that tactic a bit coercive!
And welcome, dear! Lots of good stuff to learn here! You CAN legally use MMJ if you are on probation- IF it is written in your conditions of probation. I know a dude who is on probation and is allowed to use. (He's not going to make it, though, he's back on speed and dealing.) I'd just keep my head low til it's over!
As soon as you are off probation, I would suggest growing a few plants. It will save you money in the long run. It's a fun hobby, too!
Well, wander around a bit and take a peek at the stickies at the top of each forum- LOTS of good info. As a MMJ patient, you might find the link in my sig "interesting".

I am new as well. chrondon.com delivers. I have not tried them but was highly recommended.
$60 1/8 - $120 1/4 - $25 shake
Are these prices too high if quality is good.
I hear there are places lower price (do not know where) bu quality is crappy.
I am in costa mesa. Any better places to buy with low price top quality??

It's typical street price but at it's maximum. You should never have to pay more than $60 for an eighth. It has to be daaank bud if it's $60.
