Hi. Medical marijuana helps me deal with a lot of pain that plagues me constantly (I think I have the onset of rheumatism. It runs in the family). Smoking used to help with the pain quite a bit, but about last year I started getting INSANELY paranoid even with a small amount of cannabis.
Does anyone know how I can get over this? I'm allergic to all NSAIDs and immune to opiates (even morphine), so if I don't have marijuana I'm pretty much just stuck dealing with it constantly.
Thanks,
Jake Martinez

Is there an event that you recall that may have sparked this paranoia? I was never paranoid until I had a bad experience; it doesn't keep me from using, because I've learned to handle the paranoia. I feel that cannabis-related paranoia is partly a product of your mind racing, and you have to control paranoia from within...

its odd cuz i got my stress levels shoot up and paranoia and heart racing became part of my smoking effects, after i was robbed @ gunpoint when tryin to get some weed
but the best way is to tell yourself, it aint nothin... its just weed doing its natural way and your brain over reacting... i say this cuz my brain did not get this paranoid ever for years until this botched deal
just ignore the paranoia, keep yourself busy with an activity and dont smoke in places that give u some kind of stress, like where u worry about something
thats how I do it, when i smoke, i need to relax (i know u r a patient for pain but still) and i dont let anything, not even my own brain breach this contract that i have with mj... it relaxes the body and nerves and brain, so paranoia is out my ears as soon as its detected...
dont think about it... i know most people like me n u get the pretext feeling and thinking and give paranoia more energy by worrying about it even before smoking and getting the actual thing
also u could try using more of indica strains instead of sativa aka body stoned feeling vs head high, in my experience they give u far less paranoia than sativas

Thanks for the help.
What would greatly help would be if I lived in a state with medical MJ. My doctor told me he'd prescribe it in a heartbeat if the law passed but...bleh.
What usually triggers my paranoia is if people know that I'm high. I don't know why but if I'm obviously baked then all of a sudden I get freaked out.

Smoke some indica... its used to control anxiety... and avoid any sativa, as it sometimes can cause paranoia...

confidence son! confidence and confidence is your only way in such situations... i have talked to a couple of cops in bad situations where i was potentially in big trouble... high as f*ck!
plus, i have learned now to smoke in peace and solitude and just enjoy it, im sure u will get used to it if u got the will and persistence to learn the way of confidence in your mind... u have 2 voices in your brain @ that moment im quite sure... u just gotta boost the other one instead of the one that freaks u out;)

My friend always says "trust the buds; they know what they're doing." I think that is so accurate. The feeling may get intense; it's supposed to! But, ultimately, you have to realize and rationalize that nothing bad is going to happen (if you're using responsibly).

How many times do you walk down the street and actually notice that someone is high? Hardly ever, at least for me. No one is going to know that you're high, unless they're looking for it, and if they're looking for it, they're probably down with it!:rastasmoke:

Thanks for all the info: I have a friend that won't touch it due to paranoia. Gotta have him read this one! reps to you all--if I can do it!
One thing, I might add. I have noticed, frequently, especially with men; when they have been toking, their voice gets really loud! I don't know why, but that would be a dead give away for me! Someone walking down the street--sunglasses! Visine! Have a good time!
Do you have any religious beliefs that may interfere. I find, religion tends to poke at a lot of fun for some people!:(
I have gone to parties that were almost alcohol free, and I toked before I walked in, just to get through it. Was tired of everyonen at work saying, "you never go to parties!" Since, they were all such religious, etc. I went a couple times and tought I'd die! :rastasmoke:
Good luck to all of you and glad you are figuring out how to get through it!

Never push people on this one issue. they will have their very own perceptions and predictions and expectations, no matter whatever whoever says.
Don't do it, unless u are highly talented in convincing people and following up on it to make sure u nailed it. otherwise it may well backfire.
and by highly talented @ convincing people I mean u gotta be a character like a very convincing sales man or theorist.
its something some people just don't have.
but good luck:jointsmile:

dont have time to read all the replies, but my wife has the same problem. What she does before she smokes she will do something very relaxing for her like take a nice bath, maybe smoke while in there, an then relax and try not to think about any negatives which is hard. But she found if she does a few very relaxing things before she smokes it helps alot!
good luck hope it solves itself soon.

Thanks everybody.
I'm trying to find a job right now so I can't smoke until I get one, what with all the bullshit about drug testing.
Kind of sucks cause my joints are getting exponentially worse *sob*
Oh well :)
