Hello all. Thank you for providing such ample knowledge to us new folks.

Plan/Space:

Closet:
- Dimensions: 18" x 6' x 6.5'
- Soil
- Budget not a big issue - I want an effective system

Goals:
- Separate veg and flowering stations
- At least 4 preferably 6 plants flowering at a time
- maintain a mother plant for creating clones

Cloning/Space:

So I guess I will throw out the questions (I have a lot) and you can just gimme your best advice -

Is it possible to have a mother and clones in a separate part of the closet? Do I have room? What type of bulb/setup do I need for this - I was thinking a 250w MH? Read the next question before you answer this.

Instead of using a mother plant to clone, can I just snip a clone from a plant I already have in a the veg growth stage?

Lighting:

So depending on the cloning issue above, what type of lights do you think I need? I was thinking getting a 250w HID and a 250w MH lamp.

Soil/Nutrients:

What type of soil should I use?

Fertilizer in veg growth state?

Fertilizer in flowering state?

What type of pots should I use? I was thinking 5 gallon buckets?

These are some of my most important issues I have before I start. Any input would be most appreciated.

I can't help you with a closet grow as I haven't worked with that limited a space. But I've seen postings here in the past where they accomplished just what you're looking to do. Keep reading all the postings you can find.

Hey there MrGarden...

I think you should try the yellow light...Which light is this??,you ask...The one that means "SLOW DOWN"!!

I think you should start with one or maybe two plants and learn to grow before you worry about perpetual grows...If you split that closet in half for clones or a mother, your dealing with an extra timer, more heat issues, more chances of a light leak,etc...

Your closet is pretty skinny...Are you talking about running two 250watt light systems through there???If not, just buy one 250watt HPS light system...You can buy a 250watt MH conversion bulb that will work in this system for veggin'...

Before you do anything you have to have a plan on how your gonna keep temp in this closet,16 hrs of "lights on" during veg and 12 hrs of "lights on" during flower...

I'm a soil grower and my favorite base starts with peat-moss,perlite,and earthworm castings...

Fertilizers have three numbers on them,example-10-5-14...This represents the amout of Nitrogen,Phosphorus, and Potassium,(NPK)...Cannabis uses more nitrogen when veggin' and more phosphorus when flowering...

You have alot of reading to do and I'm not talkin' about surfin' cannabis sites...Books are the way to go...Grow mags help also...As your first books may I recommend-

Indoor Marijuana Horticulture by Jorge Cervantes

Gardening Indoors with H.I.D. Lights by George F. Van Patten and Alyssa F. Bust

Wishin ya luck Mrgardener,if you really wanna do this, make it happen!!!:420thought:
