ok, so this summer i lived and worked at the beach, to save money for school. well one night me and my ex-gf got in a big fight and the neighbors(who was a police officer on vacation) called the police...the police arrive and as they pull up(3 of them on bicycles) they see my ex pushing and yelling at me out the door. the police tell me to stand still and then have me sit on the curb and start to question me. They ask me for my license and i told them it was inside. they wanted to come in with me but i saidd that they couldnt. they didnt ask me to get my license then and then proceded to knock the front door to my apartment to have my ex-gf come out. They ask her to come inside and she was scared she said so she did. when the policeman walked in he saw a home made gravity bong sitting on the table. he asked both of us whos it was and i said it was mine...then they asked if there was any "dope" in the house and i said yes theres a lil in a drawer right next to them(they eventually searched the whole room and found a scale n grinder) so i was placed under arrest for CDS-controlled dangerous substance(which was less then a gram of marijuana) and paraphenelia. I spent the night in the ocean city jail and was released in the morning. I have a $500 paraphenala charge and a $1000 possession charge and have court in a few months. wat do u guys recommend i do? should i get a lawyer for this? and wat do u think ill get for these charges? community service? any advice is appreciated. thanks

For legal advice... you need a lawyer. You wouldn't ask for our help if you had a strange growth on your neck, would you? ;) You would ask a doctor :rasta:
Nah... but you should never plan a future legal defense off of what people tell you on an internet forum. Lawyers get paid a shit ton of money for a reason
Good luck though. Remember... people use scales for all sorts of things. No reason to get slapped with intent to distribute.

i think u can have a free session with a lawyer discussing your case first b4 hiring him to see if u stand a chance... it appears u have let them in with consent and told them yourself about the stuff
and u said they ONLY charged u with paraphernalia & simple possession, so there seems to be no intent to distribute or conspiracy to do so charges, right?
talk to a lawyer and see what are your chances... maybe the lawyer can at least work out a deal or something even if u stand minimal chances, idk, have never been in such a situation.

My best experience with legal was jury duty. The rest, not so pleasant, civil crap!
You my dear, do have a problem and need for a lawyer. I wanted to add a fact that may help. I am a gold propector and the scales to sell gold are the same as you may have had! Hope that helps someone. And to prospect, you have a shovel and 5gallon bucket or 2. Tell um, going to a new spot and bring the dirt home to test it!
Good luck. Pr

You're very lucky to have a lawyer on your side. Talk to him and ONLY him about your case and yes, I think the fact that you're a full time college student shows that you're a responsible citizen and not some street dealer.
Follow your lawyer's advice and let him do the talking, trust me the DA is out for your jugular, don't trust a word they say to you.
