FINALLY !, leaving the state on a trip  got a 'ready-date' on my travel trailer, from the factory ... scheduled to be finished mid-October ... going to IL first, spread my Mom's ashes, and do the family/friends visits for a couple weeks ... then, will drive down to Texas (I like Texans :)), get my trailer, and drag it back to northern CA ... taking mostly 2-lane scenic routes, so I'll post some pics ... worried about my gas expenses ... I figured about $1250 gas for the whole trip, but the new van isn't getting even close to the mileage I expected, so its scary :wtf: ... but, in all fairness, I haven't really had it on a highway yet, and it's still new (tight) ... hopefully will improve as I go ...

NOTE: I am VERY disappointed :(, I won't be able to visit a few of you friends, as originally hoped for ... but, gasoline is eating me alive, a lot more than expected ... us elderly welfare folks gotta conserve ... I figure I will be able to pay off the gas credit cards by Spring, then go out on the next roadtrip, and piss it away all over again :D

ive driven from chicago to oklahoma several times, getting 20-25mpg it'll cost ya about $160. when you go from IL to tx i imagine you'll be taking I-44...driving through missouri is a big pain!

I've beaten the EPA estimates on every vehicle I've ever owned, but this van, ouch ! ... EPA says 13 city/18 highway ... so far, I'm getting only about 10mpg in town :( ... of course, this 'town' is very hilly ... so, I'm hoping my highway mileage will be 'up there' around 16-18 ... of course, I anticipate dropping another 3-4 mpg, when pulling the trailer :( ... now, I'm hunting for a rich widow with a tall-ceilinged basement, good wiring, and a gas station :D

yeah be safe and enjoy the scenes and the music!!

and im pretty sure u can find some cheap gas in texas, at least around houston area thats for sure... i was in dallas a few days ago and guess what, houston hurricane hit prices were cheaper than avg dallas prices!

3.3x in houston 3.70 in dallas! yikes!

u might wanna fill up a few gallons of gas from somewhere cheap and haul them with ya... but no that is a dangerous thing to carry around...

anyways... take care of yourself and report back with some pics of your road trip if u could

true, but i live in the moment, now i can have a windfall of savings from my budget, gas price is now slashed by about $1.5 a gallong around here just compared to september, and eventhough i drive a tiny asian fuel saver, i still have to drive like 100 miles daily which u know saves a whole buncha money for meh

stackin em bills up for a large purchase! sadly i have had to postpone any dreams for growing since i could not reach an agreement with my residence's owner (family) hopefully i can enjoy a fat HQ OZ for xmas and beyond:D
