Tenn. officer fired after choking suspect on video

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (AP) â?? A Tennessee police officer has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault charges after he was caught on video using a chokehold on a man suspected of hiding marijuana in his mouth.

An attorney for Cpl. William Cosby says he pleaded not guilty Thursday.

A lawyer for the city of Mt. Juliet, about 20 miles east of Nashville, says Cosby has been fired.

Cosby's attorney, Chuck Ward, says the decision to fire Cosby shows the city believes him to be "guilty until proven innocent."

Video from a city police car shows Cosby using a chokehold on 26-year-old James Lawrence Anders Jr. during an April traffic stop. The video then shows Anders passing out.

Charges including marijuana possession were later dropped. Anders is suing over the incident.

so when police treat us as guilty until proven innocent, no1 says anything...

a backward fuckin law can lead to tragedies so unnecessarily.

i wish this pig gets a few years in jail and see for 1st hand what he has in part caused others to go through in his career.

btw this is a chokehold

Yeah I love to see these corrupt cops land in prison. The bad thing is they are treated like royalty and not locked up with the general population

Prisons are their own jungles. Inmates have their very own ways and there is little to PREVENT them from doing what they want if the will is strong enough

i bet guards are more scared of inmates than vice versa... a cop convicted in prison is imo THE nightmare of any cop regardless of all the royalty treatment

yeah i'd imagine being a cop in prison is a lot like being a snitch, or child molester in prison
